Camber ( maybe)

Featured Replies

Hi

I lowered my FABIA vrs with eibach springs, about 25mm.

Since then I have noticed the inside of my front tyres are wearing.

Is this to do with the camber changing because I have lowered the car, and what can I do about it ???.

Thanks

Keith

yeah could be to do with fitting the lowering springs. best thing to do is get 4 wheel laser alignment done

Had that done, but it doesn't check the camber.

All 4 wheels tracked an all ok.

4 wheel alignment does usually measure camber caster toe On all wheels. If its not been measured you've probably just had an alignment check

I agree, 4 wheel alignment check without quoting camber and caster etc is just a toeing check for the front and a quick visual look at the back! Remember there is not too much that can be done to adjust the front camber, mainly the movement is only to equalise the camber side to side. There are ways to reduce though unofficial methods need to be used.

I don't doubt the logic stated in that posting, but, usually, if you are dealing with a competant performance place, it can be taken as read that, despite what was written by a professional wheel/chassis person here, there are many places that cover other aspects of performance work AND have alignment benches AND are trained in how to use them!

I'd reckon that the OP was extremely unlucky with his choice of place to go to get this work done - maybe he should name and shame them to save others the annoyance of paying for not getting the right job done - or did he ask for the wrong task to be carried out?

Same thing happened to me. First tyre change after the Eibachs, inside of the tyres wore around 2mm worse than the outsides. Had the tracking done when new tyres were fitted. has been fine since. Though since having the bushes done, I reckon the tracking is now back to factory settings, as the outside edges are now wearing.

Thanks all,

Will check bushes and renew if needed, and will get wheels checked somewhere else.

Thanks again

If someone does 4 wheel alignment and doesnt check camber then its not alignment but tracking because they check toe only. Toe needs to be set accordingly to camber. Different camber angles require different settings for toe. What they did was waste of your moeny (unless you have print out to proove it to us). If you had it lowered then most likely you had youe camber more neg and that can create more inside wear. Its all done to read your suspension right. Get it re-checked by someone who acctualy does full alignment job.
