Helper Springs?

Featured Replies

have just had a Bosal Swan Neck Towbar fitted, not towed anything yet but it seems quite low as it is? The base plate catches kerbs and even some speed bumps today when I had four adults in. Not liking the prospect of hitching a trailer to find it sinks even lower. Especially towing a small low loader and car to Germany in a couple of months time!

So is this common and do i need helpers on the rear springs?

Thanks in advance

Mike

The ball should be 400 mm aprox from the floor standerd ,if not you may have clearance issues .

Just stood outside to measure, the ball top is 500mm off floor level, as the swan neck tapers down the bracket at the base of the neck is 260mm off floor level, this is what catches.....

I would go with helper springs then, I use MAD springs, these will bring your ride hight up about 20mm and will cut down on your deflection .

Do the MAD springs fit inside the existing ones or elsewhere on the rear arms?

My car is a company car and i carry quite a bit of kit, and ive bottomed the rear of the car out many times when dismounting curbs, ive been looking at uprated units but these sound perfect and cheap to boot, so the question is how easy are they to fit, is it a quick easy job.

I have a saggy rear end too and would be interested also to know how easy these are to fit?. Can't see any details on the MAD website for fitting. Another site states

are relatively easy to install on your vehicle, if you have some competency about you.

I had the MAD helper springs fitted by my Skoda dealer - I supplied the springs and £80 for them to fit. Insurance company quite happy with the 'Mod' as was done by main dealer so not problems there either.
