Octavia Tdi retro-fit cruise control - red/black wire already in pin 9?

Featured Replies

Hi guys and girls,

I am currently fitting cruise control to my 2003 1.9 (110) tdi elegance (hatchback) and have got stuck.

I have all necessary parts/wires etc but when it comes to fitting the new wiring loom to the 10 pin connector in the footwell I'm stumped. Pins 1,2,3 are no problem, but pin 9 already has a red and black wire in it. What do I do with this wire? Unplug and leave it unattached when the new loom goes into pin 9, leave it in place, plug into something else?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have searched the site and google to no avail, and need to get this sorted tomorrow.

Many thanks.

That's the wrong connector. The one you are looking at is T10b on the left 'A' pillar or T10c on the right 'A' pillar.

The connector you need is T10k and is in the connection box under the plenum chamber. The connection box allows wires to pass between the engine bay and interior.

Oh ok. Are the connecters labelled at all for easier reference?

The connecter I'm looking at (right hand drive car) was accessed by removing scuttle panel and windscreen wiper mechanism, and is in the same position the pollen filter is on the passenger side. Directly under and behind the instrument cluster, fuse panel and headlight switch. That's definitely the wrong one is it?

Cheers for your reply by the way. I'm scratching my head big time!

That's the right location. The connectors are colour coded. The connector you need is black.

Are sure you have the right pin? Pin 9 will have a white wire on the engine side.

How special do I feel?! After a good nights sleep went back to it in the morning and you were bang on; read the pin numbers wrong.

Thanks for the help. All fitted now.
