Black grilles

Featured Replies

Guys..... How has everyone done their black grilles?

Whats the best and smoothest result

Best way of doing it is to soak it in some cheap bleach for a few days to get rid of the chrome, sure it was asda smart price stuff that was the best.

Mine was already painted when I bought the car and I'm forever touching it up

I have bought some stuff called Plastidip after seeing a thread one of the Fabia boys did. Its basically a plastic/rubber spray that coats the grill. From his pictures it looks pretty good and no fear of chipping etc due to what its made from. Work permitting i'll be trying it this weekend so I'll let you know how I get on.

Sorted :)

Use a good mask when using plastidip! Got really bad cancer causing stuff in it

So is it bleach then spray with plastidip stuff ??

I think with groups of brisk folk there should be a briskoda workshop lol post to someone who can do it the returned hehehe to help the crap people

Thats the stuff matey. I plan on taking the grill apart tbh and painting the chrome section on its own. I will just give it a key to the surface first, make your its dust free then spray. Luckily I'll be doing it at work and have a large work shop with plenty of ventilation to be doing it in.

Only thing is that plastic dip has a textured finish from the look of it?

Carbon-era

Trouble is id come away with like black mirrors grille pillars and roof lol

Plastidip doesnt need a key...

Split the chrome part from grill and spray away!!

Nasty stuff though

i could not get my chrome bit off my grill. dunno if i was just being thick i wrapped it in CF look stuff with the grill complete/ I will be removing it asap as i now have some gloss black wrap.

i would not spray with paint as they chip really easy from past experience doing that.
