Been quoted £45 inc VAT for the 16" steel wheels from Skoda - is this reasonable ?

Yes.

205/55 16 Conti TS830P are coming in at £100 inc VAT and fitting from a local outlet with TS830 £25 more - cant work out the difference

Of the various Conti winter tyres, the TS800 is the only one with a full winter tread pattern. Next best is the TS830, then the TS810, and last is the TS830P which has a high-performance bias and a tread pattern more like that of a summer tyre. If you are going to the trouble and expense of winter tyres (which in my view is well worth it), it does not seem like a good idea to buy the winter tyre that is most like a summer tyre - though you will still get the benefit of the winter compound, of course.

For £89 you can get the Goodyear UltraGrip 8 from Oponeo, provided you are content with the 91 load factor. You should still be a few quid better off by the time you have paid for fitting, and you'll have a better tyre.

  • As someone else said it always snows over Easter and I've been in the Lake District over an Easter (was it 2008? Can't remember) when it did snow. So keep 'em on until then Mike.

Continental told me last summer (remember it? I don't either!) that the TS810 that I wanted was no longer available and that the TS830P was the replacement.

I could not find any TS810 tyres anywhere and neither could my local tyre shop. .

So I have TS810 tyres on the front and the TS830P on the rear ( in winter )

Now they are sitting comfortably on their tyre tree in the garage!

All I need now is the car to hang them on.

As its not due till the end of October I reckon they will go straight on when I get it home...

Hi

Yes, Llanigraham beat me to the link, but they came from an A3 and they are exactly the correct fitment.

Cost £200 - collected from a guy in Bristol
