VRS cuts out instead of idling

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My 06 PD VRS has started to cut out. Steps to reproduce.

1. Start car from cold

2. Drive about a mile

3. Put foot on clutch

Expected behaviour - car should idle at about 1000 rpm (cold)

Actual behaviour - engine stops

Let it get slightly warmer and you see the revs drop to about 400 but bounce back up to normal idle again.

All 4 injectors were changed about 6k miles ago. EGR valve was cleaned about 2000 miles ago.

Any ideas. I checked for fault codes, but it's clear.

Thanks

Mark

I'm not sure this is related but I too had my injectors replaced recently on my PD170.

Me and several others noticed that the DPF (diesel particulate filter) was regenerating much more frequently immediately after the injector swap.

I had it a couple of times where I would approach a junction, dip the clutch and the engine would die.

Apparently if the engine revs drop mid DPF regen then this can cause the engine to stall. Don't know how or why but it did.

Anyway after a couple of moths the regens stopped and it's never stalled again since...
