im new to 1.8 vrs and keep hearing people talk about remaps is there a way to tell if it has been done or is the vrs just really quick as standard when i bought the car was told it was a standard but will hit 120 in 3rd which is worrying lol

maybe less worrying if you took your foot off the gas?

Remap shouldn't affect the top speeds it can do in each gear, apart from in top gear you can do 150ish instead of 145 (obviously not on the road in the UK!)

2 ways to tell if it's been remapped

1. Drive a standard one

2. Read the boost pressure with a boost gauge or VAG-Com, standard is about 10psi, remapped is 14psi (1bar) or more
