Nice project for someone

Nice easy repair too

Its removal of the dash which sounds a really big job, but it aint if u have a basic idea of how they put one together in the factory. Took me 4 hours to remove/replace my vrs dash (but ive done a fair few cars in my time) and by far one of the easiest ive done.

The price aint to bad, but i would want it for £3000 to £3200 if it was me. Bonnet (with grill) £100, front panel £75 (hope the rads aint gone), bumper £50, repair the headlight brackets if needed and gonna expect to pay £500+ for complete airbag set. If you can get the parts the same colour then happy days. If it works out then will be on the road for £4000.

Just a matter of looking how much a straight one is to buy and also remember if its recorded then value gonna be 75-80% of the straight one.

One little thing worth remembering is that you could facelift it if you changed the wings and headlights aswell (obviously can sell the excess bits) and prob get a complete facelift front end for £1000 :)

Theres a new bonnet on ebay at the mo currently on 1p lol.

yes but when it comes to resell your gonna get the question as to why it has a whole new front to it? Adverts with the emphasis of facelift on an older model put me off straight away

The number plate is quite apt.

Yea but its gonna be recorded as a cat D so they will know why it has a FL front end. I cant see many people asking that question tbh as most would think that it was already on there. Mine is 09 and has everything FL except the front end.

Was just saying that if you were keeping it then might be worth fitting the FL front end, but cost wise the pre will be much cheaper to fit.

Fair enough its a good chance to upgrade to a facelift front seeing as its down as a Cat D, one of my previous cars was driven into the side of, ripped the front door off, it got repaired through insurance and wasnt marked down as anything so how does a little front end shunt get marked down as cat d

Good to sell on, but personally I would never drive a Cat "D" accident damaged car... even for free... maybe its just me and my superstitions?

Its a bit of a mind field in regards to recorded etc and there will be exceptions to what im about to say, but simple terms if you bump your car and it is repaired through insurance and comes back to you them wont be recorded as damaged. If your car is damaged and you get paid out and dont have it back it is then assessed on how much its worth, how much the repair is (with genuine parts and labour costs) and also they take into account how long the parts/repair will take (it costs them mega bucks to put u in a courtesy car). Its then graded as Cat C (requires a VIC check), Cat D (doesn't need a VIC check). There are many ways in which insurance companies can work it so the car ends up unrecorded (worth more) and they will do this with high value cars etc. but will take ages to explain and cant be bothered lol :)
