Vrs milltek exhaust not straight

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

Just had a cat-back milltek exhaust fitted on 04 plate octy vrs, the tail pipe is not straight!

Ive had a look underneath and it seems the back rubber mount does not fit fully on the mounting arm of the exhaust (see attached pics)

What do you reckon? how should i get it straight?

I have searched the forums but found no similar problems (I'm sure there is but I did look)

Thank you

Try a new exhaust rubber and see if that helps m8

Take it back? No way I would accept that.

When i fitted my milltek i fitted all new exhaust rubbers, the 2 square ones just back from cat and the one at front and rear of backbox,

Think they were only about 20 quid from stealers, I had to bend the mounting brackets on the exhaust to get it to fit right but the exhaust was second hand so don't know if its been knock about abit

i had this on my octavia tdi. What I did was push the exhaust to the left to sit straighter and used several cable ties on the bracket shown in the 2nd pic to stop it sliding back.

My milltek did the same. Ive just used a cable tie for now.

The last pic is where im pushing it to the left, it sits straight there. Might put some rubber washers on to stop it sliding back.

I ended up getting my Piper system cut and re-welded to sit exactly as I wanted it.

Putting me off getting one now if you have to bodge it. :wonder:

I'm not happy about bodging it but got it now so will make it work. Re-wielding sounds the way to go.

I would have gone back to Piper with it, but it's a bit far for me :D

You don't have to bodge it, its just exhaust rubbers that have seem better days

It could be - but I replaced all the mounts on mine. It helped but it still sat like this:

Right got all new rubbers ordered off eBay, will post pics when re-fitted

Could you post the ebay links up pls m8

the second one is more like heavy cuted than heavy duty

Place a couple of rubber washers on the mounting bar to get it to sit the way you want (you should be able to pick them up in any hardware store for couple of euro) - I had a similar issue with my miltec backbox and that's how i sorted it.

My miltek sits to the right when cold. Once hot it is perfect. Also extends about 20mm too.

I'll get another mount then hopefully it will straighten up.

Ps I emailed milltek about it, they admitted you might need cable ties to keep it straight!! What?!

Assume its the same for everyone then......
