Tyre Pressure Warning

Featured Replies

Bit of a weird one...Driving down the motorway tonight and BONG "Please Check Tyres!"....

Did the usual of hazards on, hard shoulder etc etc and all appeared to be ok...

I cleared the error and set off again and, yes you guessed it, BONG "Please Check Tyres!"....

Into the services I went, checked all tyre pressures and all seemed ok so tried clearing the error again and got this...

So, ABS sensor? something more conspicuous?

Any help much appreciated!

Damaged tyre?

Doesn't the system work on rolling circumfrence? not entirely sure as if that is the case over the life of the tyre the rolling circumfrence will decrease through wear.

the tyres have only been on the car about 6 days and the system has been reset albeit for a few seconds lol

Had similar on Roomster a while back followed the VCDS procedure from here:

http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_%281K%29_Brake_Electronics_%28MK60%29#Tire_Pressure_Monitoring_System_Reset

Which is:

Tire Pressure Monitoring System Reset

Prerequisites:

  • Ignition ON

[select]

[03 - Brake Electronics]

[basic Settings - 04]

Group 042

[Go!]

Activate the Basic Setting.

[ON/OFF/Next]

[Done, Go Back]

[Close Controller, Go Back - 06]

  • The Tire Pressure Monitoring Lamp (K220) should blink.
  • Now check the Tire Pressure and correct it if necessary.
  • Press and Hold the Tire Pressure Monitoring Button (E492) AND the ASR/ESP Button (E256) for 2 Seconds.
  • A short Tone should sound after pressing/holding these buttons for 2 Seconds and the blinking should change to a permanent lit Tire Pressure Monitoring Lamp (K220).
  • The Reset is now done and as soon as you let the buttons go the Tire Pressure Monitoring Lamp (K220) should go OFF.

Following this sorted it out.
