New Octy Estate on its way !

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Just ordered my first Skoda, a 1.2 TSi SE Manual Octavia Estate in Rosso Brunello.

Car is currently at the VAG storage in Germany, I can't wait for it to arrive over here :)

Very pleased with the idea, especially having just read the AutoExpress review against the 1.6 Focus estate, http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carreviews/grouptests/269911/ford_focus_estate_vs_skoda_octavia.html

It was rated as a lot quicker 30-50 mph, roomier, better MPG and better riding than the Ford. (Didn't check ford prices, but I am guessing cheaper too, especially with the 20% vat back !)

I'll admit the Ford looks more modern, but TBH the interior of the Focus looks too angular to me.

So its not a vRS beastie like a lot of you have, but I am still looking forward to getting my little 1.2 :p

Any advice or recommendations you have, please fire away :)

Dosen't matter what engine size or trim level you had, at least it has Skoda Badges on

+1...wish i had the 1.2 rather than the 1.6 MPI, but it's still got the right badge in the middle!

When you go to collect the car make sure it is dry and in good light. Take all the time you need to check the car over, even if you have to ask the salesman to leave you to it. Don't be rushed.

Is the manual and service book present, do you have both keys. Do you want it on fixed or variable servicing?

Also have a think about what settings you'd like, one press of the fob to open all doors or just the drivers door, anti-hijack (automatically locks the doors over 5mph and then unlocks when you remove the key), coming/leaving home lights on or off etc. as it's far easier for them to make the changes on the same day.

And finally enjoy, take some photo's and post them here!

I get a choice on servicing ?

Its free 3 years servicing so I guess i'll get it done every year :)

Dunno if it has any of the flash stuff like "see you home lights" etc.

You can have the car set up one of two ways:

Fixed servicing - every 12 months or 10,000 miles, whichever you reach first.

Variable servicing - Up to 25,000 miles depending on driving style, number of cold starts etc.

They come from the factory set on variable but the thought of having the same oil (longlife or not) in my engine for up to two years or 20,000+ miles is a no-no.

Since you have the 3 year service deal then you don't need to worry.

I see, presumably its all to do with how the ECU is programmed as to when the service indicator comes on ?

I already learnt something new, thanks Siver101 :)

I'll check and ensure it's on fixed then, as thats what I would do anyway. Like you, I would prefer to have the oil changed frequently, especially so on a turbo engine.

Ok, A little looking around and I see mention of this VAS to which Silver101 mentioned parts of.

What optional things will I have on an SE spec that I can have set to my preference other than CL and anti hijack ?

Thanks Again Silver1011 :)

Had the call today form the dealer, should be ready for pickup thursday

Kinda feel like a kid waiting for xmas now !

I realize most octy's on here are the full fat vRS versions, but still looking forward to my little TSi for a few reasons:

1. current car dissapointed me from day 1, and more niggles over time.

2. petrol again !! current car is diesel and I just prefer the drive of a petrol, too little revs for my liking on diesels, although the economy was nice.

3. Always fancied this sort of colour, but not yet had a car in anything like it.

4. 6 gears

5. room !

Not all, just a humble 4x4 :giggle: :giggle: For me, a 7 month wait!

Very good, very pleased with it and good for towing, not yet 3,000 miles on the clock. Previous car, Citroen C5 and before that two Citroen Xantias; so a complete change. The wife also finds it better to drive! :mmm:

What made you choose the Octavia over the latest C5 estate?

I had the C5 on my shortlist before I bought the Octavia, never got to drive one though.

Well, She is now parked on my drive, and loved the drive home

The sun wouldn't play ball when I found a place to stop and take some pics on the way home, (really love the colour when the sun gets to show the metallic) and I am no photographer, but here she is:

The 5% VAT deal and also the new C5 estate would not fit into my garage, no driveway, garage door opens onto the road (cul-de-sac) and with the extra couple of inches the door would not be able to close.
