Skoda fabia 1.4 mpi Immobiliser issue Help please

Featured Replies

Hi all

New to the forum

customer has brought a fabia 2000 1.4 mpi in today, they have tried to fit a dial kit to the clocks and have taken out the plug to the speedo unit, car does starts and then cuts out on immobliser since plug disconnected. the key light is flashing all the time,

the car was starting and running untill person removed plug from clock, I have scene the post about programing new keys etc. there is no central locking on the car and they are just standard keys, no buttons on the key

How do we get the immobiliser to reset, surely the keys have not lost there code rather the dash clocks are not connecting with ecu

any help would be great on this, We do have obd scanner etc

many thanks

lee

I'm assuming the plug is now reconnected?

The immobiliser is in the dash panel and there is a transponder in the key. As you say if it's the same dash panel and key it shouldn't need programming. However maybe the connecting wire between the coil reader and the green plug has come loose, I'd check that.

hi there

the plug seems connected I will check tho

The unit was disconnected only for a few mins, now reconnected it does not seem to be picking up the code, but its the same key and unit

anyone else have any idears on this at all

Try erasing learned values in gateway, that's adaptation (10) channel 00 with VCDS, I've not come across this on a Skoda but it for some reason was required on SEATs once the dash panel was disconnected.

Failing that it wil need a dealer visit to re code the key if you don't have the four digit security code for the car.

This is what i do not understand as they cannot of lost its code, the dash has been disconnected it can effect the keys

It doesn't normally, but the car doesn't start so what option do you have?

The immobiliser system is simple, you have the key, a reader coil, a piece of wiring and the control unit. So either there is a fault with a component or the key needs programming. That's all there is to it, failing that a fault code might help but I suspect it's key signal to low.

ive heard there is a way of resetting the immobiliser settings/code in the ECU to '0000' effectively turning the immobiliser off. it involves removing a chip from the ECU and with a bit of solder? Is this correct? i have an intermittent immobiliser problem that seems to seems to not recognise the key when it wants. i know the key is fine as it sometimes works on on spare key as well. I have had the connections checked. the only other thing is to replace the dashboard but the cost of that is too much. the car is an 02 plate and only worth £1200. Any ideas anyone?
