Boost gauge options?

Featured Replies

Im looking to fit a boost gauge to the vrs but after having a quick look around on the tinterweb im finding limited options for pods etc. Not sure I want to go down the route of the vent mount as I dont want to loose a usable vent.

What other options do I have? Just wondering what all u guys have done.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks

Dazz

I had an LG fitted in the ashtray (could be closed as well)

Not very convenient to look at down by the gearstick though.

My personal favourites are either the slightly angled 3-gauge fascias you can get to fit in where the cubbyhole is like Rob has on his

or the newsouth column pod although not sure how much that would obscure the other dials.

If you don't mind me asking... How much did that cost?

I have bought a dial gauge and plan to fit it in the ashtray.

The LG was £175 but that was a few years ago now. It sounds a lot but it does 75% of what a full version of VAG-com can do.

The metal plate it sits in was made by forum member GarryC when he used to work at Piper exhausts.

Thanks for the options guys I'll take a closer look at them during the day.

Also I was looking at this little gadget, just getting the pcb version and fitting it into the sunvisor maybe or like chicken_eyebrow in the ashtray.

Quite expensive though at £185. Anyone any experiences with them at all?

As said, it does pretty much most things VAG-Com can do, and reads fault codes, as well as being a multi-function digital gauge.

I saved myself (and other Briskoda peeps whose cars I plugged it into) enough money in terms of diagnostic time for it to just about pay for itself. I suppose you could say the same for a £20 ebay code reader, but they don't let you do dyno plots, 0-60 measuring and all sorts of other things.

I tended to just switch it to whatever I wanted to measure, do a bit of driving, then look at it again when it was safe to. If you're going to be using it as a gauge that you want to be watching all the time then I'd say it needs to go somewhere a bit more in the line of sight than the sun visor or ashtray.

I've got a pod that sits on the steering column going spare. PM me if you are interested.

Here's one where ive located mine. Abit dark but you get the idea :)

Now that does look nice. What other gauges are useful for me to have? Oil pressure and Oil Temp maybe?

i bought a twin universal jobbie off ebay that goes on the a pillar and used a head gun to mold it to the trim.

now looks like it was made for a octy.

A/F Ratio / Oil Pressure / Boost :)

Halfords pod and a gauge from ebay, does the job for me.
