Time your decat with a remap else you really won't see much benefit

I've got piper catback and 2-1/2 inch Decat down pipe on the way

Sounds epic :)

But yeah get it mapped after :p

Just De catted mine pulls much better and fuel consumption is on the happier side of life.

I'm just worried about my turbo goin pop

I removed my cat over a year ago and have never had a problem. Just make sure you warm up and cool down

I have a straight through exhaust and it sounds "interesting", do a search on exhausts and there are loads of threads out there some will even have videos so you can see if you like the sound of them.

silly question incoming ,

How does the decat affect letting it warm up and cool down more?

ive has mine de-cated and mapped for nearly a year and had no problems at all. i dont think warming up and cooling down has anything to do with a de-cat but you should be doing this anyway to help prevent the turbo failing.

As it's working a tad harder as it spools up quicker. ?

De cat round here means getting the tom out from under and taking to vet. Then getting to ork underneath to remove the stink :hi:

Warming up and cooling down has nothing to do with the decat. The turbos on the vrs aren't the greatest. It is argued on here if it is worth wraming up and cooling down the engine oil temp to prevent the turbo from failing actually affects the diesel turbo, but it is always good practise to do so. What harm does it do? I may be wrong so point out if I am, I have never seen anyone on here with a decat have a turbo failure due to running it on a standard map

so its safe to run a decat and mufflerectomy with standerd map for a while then untill i get my fmic before my remap??

I think decat and standard map can cause an overboost as there's less back pressure/restriction in the exhaust which the car doesn't expect. This could lead to damage or limp mode etc.

Yeah I've heard the same however not seen any logs to back it up.

Could anyone on here with a decat and std map care to log channell 11 from 1500rpm to 4500rpm in either 3rd or 4th?

It's not a standard map that's the issue, it's when you run a decat with a remap that is for a car running the cat in place. As far as I was aware anyway.

No overboost caused by decat. have used a decat on a standard car, a remapped non-pd tdi and a remapped PD130 (after the remap) and my current hybrid.

What did cause overspeeding was an induction kit on the end of the MAF.....
