Investigation started by Skoda Uk

Just a bit of advice regarding what to expect from them.

I have a 2011 61 plate fabia vrs, however iv had a few issues with the car:

1) high oil consumption - new engine

2) new turbo was faulty - new turbo

3) failed fuel pump - new fuel pump

4) rattles inside

5) tyre pressure light on along with anti skid light with a message 'stabilisation error' but goes off when ignition switches off, problem not known.

I took car in again and was advised by the dealer to ring Skoda, the sales rep said that she would expect a new car and the service manager said that she understands me not having any confidence in the car and told me to tell them to get in touch with her.

Iv phoned them and they are investigating the issues.

Good to hear!

I will be raising concerns with oil consumption when I go in for my 2nd service...

Has anybody else got rattling back doors?

Has anybody else got rattling back doors?

I think I do, noticed that recently. However it won't be something identified as a "problem" or "malfunction" as according to a technician in local Skoda it's just the way they are. There's not a loose or broken piece to fix, it's just as it is.

I reckon it would be fixable by using sound deadening material such as Silent coat or other similar stuff, so it's either a DIY thing or getting used to it. I plan to order some of this stuff myself and do the front and rear doors now that weather's getting better. It's also been done by another member here before with very good results If I recall correctly.

Had a phone call from them explaining about there warranty which doesn't help the fact my car is rubbish. See what they have to say tomorrow.

threaten to reject it, they have had enough chances to make the car "right" ... see if that hurries them along....

a new replacement would be a fair deal for all your troubles :)

I'm getting close to that now, 4 weeks without the car that I pay for (no signs of it hurrying up). Beyond a joke now!! Really starting to get wound up :-/

Im going to put that forward tomorrow when they ring back, tell them that i haven't paid the money to be either sat in a Skoda dealer or in a courtesy car, also i have no trust with car and with the travelling i do i need to have full confidence and it shouldn't have had the number of issues in such a short space of time!!! Hope you guys get yours sorted

Are all Fabia VRS made in the same factory.

Maybe some are made in Wonkaland by Umpalumpas.

Haha i was beginning to love it after having my new engine in and getting it run in, then the rattles came and knocked the edge of it abit, then started to love it again and now stabilisation error what ever that is, and now the car is just grating on me and have no trust or confidence in the car when i go on journeys all at the back of my mind is it going to just cut out like it has done or is something else going to go wrong

Rattles I can deal with or fix myself, normally plastic things in the boot but fixed wedging dogs towel against it! Top glovebox rattles if nothing in it so pad it out with crap now lol

OK here goes last time I said something like this I was deemed to be not helping just taking Skodas side.

I have at great expense to me just refused a Greenline II.

First thing is you cannot refuse the car with Skoda they did not supply the car the dealer you bought the car supplied the car. Now depending on how you have paid for the car depends on what you can do.

Paid full in Cash, the refusal has to be made to the supplying dealer under the supply of goods act and sale of goods act.

Paid full in Cash but used Credit card to pay for deposit, as above but you can also use section 75 of the credit act that makes the credit card equally responsible and the dealers.

Paying for the car on Hire Purchase, the car does not belong to you and the HP company are responsible for providing a car of satisfactory quality and the refusal needs to be sent to them.

I presume that PCP will be the same as HP

Whoever excepts the refusal can give you the price of the car at time of purchase less ware and tear- market price for a trade in of a poor car.

I will be happy with a replacement car for the rest of the term if possible, it is on pcp, i was considering contacting the finance company, would it be the dealer i speak to? I was just wanting to make skoda aware of the issues with the car for there sake

I'm going to investigate this today I will let you know my outcome. Mines on "options" as they sometimes call it (I presume this is pcp). Paid a larger deposit to get monthly payments down. In contact with dealership currently to discuss where we go with it from here.

Im currently going through the process with my dealership on rejecting the and sent a letter to them, my dealership seem very co operative and agree that my car os not fit for purpose!! Hope this helps you

Yes the sale of goods act still stands but was added to / superseded in 1994 by the supply of goods act.

Under both acts the car has to be of fit for purpose - acts supplied to me by RAC legal team. As I had HP I pursued the HP company.
