Time To Change?

Featured Replies

Ok, I've got a Octv vRS CR TDI which I bought from new 4 1/2 years ago. It's been great.

When I got it I was doing double the miles I am now as well as a lot of my journeys currently are under 5 miles, which I can't see changing any time soon. For the first time since buying the car the DPF light came on (currently in Octy II section), which isn't suprising given the typical journeys now, but it got me thinking.

Considering I do 8-9k a year now rather than the original 17K, mainly short trips (occasional 500miles round trip, maybe 5 times a year), is it really worth keeping my derv? After all, having to do m-way trips to keep the DPF happy negates the saving in fuel doesn't it?

I paid 16,500 for this in 08 so considering what they seem to go for on the trader depreciation is obviously way better than the petrol one, forgetting MPG.

Arrrrgh!

Sounds like you will be better off changing. But It'll cost you to change whatever you choose.

Sounds very much like you need a petrolium vehicle. With the price of diesel rising and the efficiency of petrol engines getting much better its a no brainer for folk who dont travel great distances.

That said you have to ballance your decision against the extra expenditure of a new car loan and what youll get back for the octy.
