Tracking a Blackberry Mobile Phone.

Featured Replies

Is it possible to track a mobile phone?

A friends daughter has had her Blackberry pinched at school, and has been using it to access her facebook account and spreading rumours.

Does anyone know of any tracking programs that can be used?

You can't do it, yes there are apps and websites that allow you to track the phone but apps need installing, and the websites send a text to the phone that must be replied to for tracking to start.

Easiest to stop the facebook posting, simply change the password as this will lock the BB facebook app out from facebook.

Contact the service-provider, they should be able to track the phone as is it stolen.

+1

.....along with any other app that's on the phone

with a Nokia Smartphone (and if you've set it) you can sent a keyword as a text and lock the phone remotely. :)

There is application F-Secure it is available for Symbian and Android, free of charge for protection. There are 3 levels of remote protection.

First one is track the phone, it actually send you back GPS coordinates on Google map, so you could see within 20 meters where your phone is in real time.

Second level it will lock your phone and cannot be unblocked without master code (you setting the code)

And my favourite: Wipes the phone clean from everything, including the operational system and the roots directories, so effectively you have a brick.

It destroys the bias chip as well, so the phone could never be used even if you try to reload from scratch.

On the iPhone 4s theres a " find my iPhone ", you can locate it, password it out, make it lay a sound to alert anyone, or even wipe it

Need to be on iCloud though

There are a range of apps that can indeed be installed to track the phone in such cases. The only problem here is that they need to be installed prior to having the phone taken.

In regards to Facebook, just change the password on any PC. This should then block the Phone from connecting and any further stupid comments etc.

I suggest as above that you contact the provider (if on contract). They should be able to locate this for you - If they aren't willing to help they can block the handset yada yada.

As others, change the Facebook password to mitigate the risk in short term.

For future reference, Blackberry do do a protection app - see http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/protect/ for info.

THis enables you to track the phone, lock it, back it up etc.

I know this won't help you now but worth considering.
