Yeti on Carplan Trim Wax Product

Featured Replies

Maybe someone at Car Plan has seen on here how many questions have been raised about the difficulty of keeping the Yeti's crinkly black plastic trim looking like new! :giggle:

Bought the last one on the shelf in Wilkinsons Colchester today! My Yeti is only 3 weeks old and has mostly been in the garage, so I don't need to use it yet, but will post when I do use it.

Carplan Wax is rubbish

I wouldnt have that anywhere near my car!!

Gtechnik C4 is all you will EVER need...ever!!

You have to be careful to get the right type though.

The old bottles have a Ford Ka on them so clearly not the right mixture for Yetis

I love the way people post about products with comments, like ChrisRs, but don't tell you why they think like that.

If you want to make a negative comment about a product then explain why, otherwise it is meaningless.

peanut butter is cheaper and is guaranteed to work....no pictures of yetis on the label though

Can you use Groundnut oil as a more user friendly and easier to apply subsitute for

smooth peanut butter?

I'm assuming groundnut oil does come from peanuts!

Gtechnik C4 is a so say 'permanent' product. Does this mean if you apply it to a slightly less than

pristine Yeti (knowing how difficult it is to keep the black plastic trim in showroom condition) that

you could lock in a less than perfect finish that when once done is unrecoverable?

I use Autoglym Bumper Care which has its faults (can leave streaks after rain and not always fully even finish).

Raw peanut butter sounds like a longwinded job applying it and removing the messy residue...lots of

elbow grease required?

Looking at the high cost of the product how much would it cost to fully treat a Yeti and what amount

of product per application?

I use aerospace 303 works a treat for me

The Gtechnik C4 has to be kept off paintwork so it would require a full mask up before applying?

Will not be using if there is any risk of bubbling paintwork as my hands are a bit shaky!!!

Also the non inconsiderable extra effort tapeing up rather puts me off !!

Just use an old nail brush to apply peanut butter and then rinse off.....it works

Its crap

GTechnik is far more advanced than any Car plan product

Meaningful enough?

No.

Why is it crap? That's like me saying all Fabia VRs's are crap. It is just an opinion.

And is this comment from Kibby correct:

To me any plastic cleaner that can't be slopped on, then wiped off would be a waste of time. I want something that will do the job quickly and easily.

At last a use for the peanut butter the ex left behind!!

Anyone got any tips for using up Marmite?

I bought quite a lot of Nutella as they were on offer, not sure whether it would work.

(Honestly though, does peanut butter work? Because olive oil might actually work - its essentially oil that is making it shine)

I think the reference to Marmite is apt! Most of these products will give results but it's a case of which one you like, ergo all the others are "crap". Taking the price into account Gtechnic C4 would have to be VERY good for me to prize open my wallet.

My garage shelves are full of "miracle" products that didn't live up to expectations that were purchased in my younger and more naive days.

YES it does work. But not nutella

As it says so on website ..yes you do need to keep it off paint work Llanigrump!!

Not a grump, just practical, which you might have noticed if you read my reply.

I want a product that is quick and easy, and having to mask up around the plastics is patently not that.

And it looks like I'm not alone in that view.

If you read my posts you will notice I am not advocating use of Gtechnik C4.

I also want an easy to use effective product and haven't found one yet.

Meant to be lighthearted in case you took offense.

You clearly know nothing about cleaning products

Why dont you search the online car product sites if you dont want experienced advice?

Then you can make your own mind up

OK..Dont get G4..I really dont care less...Apart from it being the best product of its type available..Your call

As for my opinions on Car plan products..Ive NEVER found any of their products to be of any use..Hence the word 'crap'..Its greasy and will not last very long

Good luck in your search

BTW....GTechnik C1 (Paintwork Sealer) C4 (Plastic Trim sealer) C5 (Wheel Sealer) are the same product..just marketed differently
