Change Rear Pads, Easy?

Featured Replies

Right,

The rear pads are on there way out. I have changed front pads before but never rear ones. Think I have a wind back tool at home. Are they easy or a pain to do.

Thanks

Use your wind back tool on your piston and it should be quite an easy job.

I put new discs and pads on a while ago and discovered I needed a gap of at least 57mm (from the piston face to the cast feature that I used to locate the wind back tool), to clear my new disc and new pads.

If your using existing brake discs then gap will be slightly less

I managed to change the rear discs and pads myself and I am a reasonably useless at mechanical things. So yes, easy. :giggle:

Take some pics and do a how to guide mate

Do you have to replace the bolts when you change the pads? Anyone got the part number if you do.

Personally, I think they can be reused as the torque loading is quite low providing some form

of threadlock is used or a starwasher to stop them coming undone.

If you buy a std box set of pads you will get the 4 bolts with some form of thread lock on the threads.

If not the bolt number is:-

WHT - 003 - 250 (Bolt, hex head with shoulder, self locking M8 x 22 long)

Not too bad to do. I didnt have the rewind tool so i had to bodge one up :)
