Stone chippings on bonnet

Featured Replies

Hi , first post on here.

I picked up my Yeti in Oct 2011 and have been delighted with the beast.

So versatile, great for taking the dogs into the hills and perfectly at home on Mway trips.

I've just found three stone chippings on the bonnet and feel really deflated.

Any advise on the best products to sort this out ?

Several on my bonnet. I just bought the touch-up paint from the dealer and paint them with a very fine brush.

Same here, after 35k miles.

Seems inevitable and I'm always careful as well not to drive too close to the car in front!

As Llanigraham says touch up paint and a fine brush and in my case a pair of +3.5 dioptre reading specs!

Is there any kind of clear sticky plastic 'stuff', like for the rear doors, available for the front of the Yeti? Clayed mine today and was glad that no stone chips have occurred as yet!

Yes you could have some wrapping done by someone like http://www.motormods.co.uk/car_skinz_vehicle_wrapping.html

A front end wrap to stop stone chipping round here costs around £700.

So I'm going for the paint touch-up method.

It won't stop other marks on the car and a full wrap is £1600.

So I guess it depends on how obsessive you are!

Depending on how bad the chips are and how many you could get one of the mobile chip repairing services to do it for you. My neighbour had several chips on his Golf and the repairs were so good they were invisible. I think it cost about £120 to do the bonnet, front valance and a few other nicks.

Those companies don't like coming out to the sticks. I think the hills and the sheep frighten them! :giggle:
