Superb or VW CC?

Featured Replies

Ok. I know what you're thinking. Has he gone nuts? You can not compare the Superb against a "coupe". They are two completely different vehicles.

You're right of course. I know it. But here it is:

I have a Superb L&K on order. Where I live all VAG sales are handled by the same parent company, although in different locations. Their boss, who I know, offered me to test ride the CC currently in my yard. Not to worry about the L&K on order. We sell cars for a living. Pick what you like.

So - the CC is very refined. It has light assistants, reads road signs (speed), lane assist, killer hifi (DynAudio), electric towbar, very little noise inside and is of course immensely stylish.

The Superb has 4x4, panoramic roof that actually opens, loads of space and all that comes with the L&K package.

I think I might be leaning towards the Superb but only just. So does the wife. The kids are all over the CC. The CC looks stunning and as I took it for a spin today it did turn a few heads.

Price and engine are the same. What do you guys think? Pros and cons other than the obvious space issue?

I must admit to liking the CC, tis a very smart looking car.

Is this a private or company car? If private then Superb, possibly CC if company.

For me whilst the CC offers plenty the Superb doesn't like you mentioned it just didn't offer me the space we needed having twins!

Lot of guys at work have chosen both standard Passats and CCs but they are now as common as muck. Not so the Superb.

My 2p.

The CC is far better looking than the Superb Twinhatch, and far less practical than the Superb estate.

I would rather have my estate over the CC, but the CC beats the Twinhatch (for me).

If you are unsure abouth both you have to define your real needs at first. These are different cars. Yes, that sounds like Captain Obvious.....

I have a Passat CC and also considered the Superb. I dislike the style of the twindoor and didn't really want the estate so went for the cc.

I have had it about 15 months and done about 24k with no problems. Don't know how old the kids are, however, the rear seats are not the best shape in the world for child seats and seats can dig in, also the layout means if you have a child seat in you really loose the middle seat - I don't have kids but occasionally have the nephew in.

Other than that of the technologies listed I have lane assist on mine which is very good on motorways. Don't know what the spec is in Norway, in the UK since it just became the CC it got xenons as standard, however, they are not cornering - this makes the cornering option quite pricey.

Other toys I have on mine - Automatic cruise control - again great on mways plus the advantage of front assist in town, digital tyre pressure info which gives you the pressure in the MFD and the climate seats which are quite nice in summer.

I looked at the CC and the Superb Estate "don't like the twin door" and it was a case of "which one comes along first"

A New Superb estate came along that was obviously better than a used CC, you would be surprised how tatty a 3 week old CC that has been the finance directors run around can be. My local VW stealers were unable to obtain a CC in the spec I wanted, ultimately loosing VW the sale. "sort of"

The CC had a better drivers seat and it was quieter if I remember correctly, but I certainly don't regret getting the Superb.

Drive both then choose, stying apart there's not much in it.

Thanks guys for your thoghts. They are highly appreciated.

The CC "Carat package" that one would be mad not to get, at least in Norway also provides cornering xenon lights.

I might as well admit to being a gadget man. I like buttons. I like a car that "thinks". And I am born with a spell that make such things count also compared to the obvious more practical solutions.

That said. The CC is far better looking than the Superb, and has loads more on the tech side. The Superb is far ahead on practicality, space and it has it's 4x4 that I really only need maybe two or three days a year, even in Norway.

Don't know what it is, but this one is a toughie :)

Not such a daft comparison seemingly. I started off wanting a CC but ended up ordering a Superb.

The CC is a beautiful-looking car for its category but I never really liked the interior that much. I loved the interior of the Superb and all the kit of the Elegance model. So it came down to a straight choice between beautiful on the inside or beautiful on the outside. As I spend 3+ hours a day in the car then I went for the Superb.

Also a factor was cost. In the UK, the latest CC with leather, Sat Nav and other Elegance stuff is significantly more expensive than the Skoda.

Both nice cars though.

CC is a comfort coupe and a refined drivers car esipecially in upper trims, on the other hand rear legroom and headroom is a problem to consider.

That said. The CC is far better looking than the Superb,

I'd say it's better looking than many cars on the road, and most in the same price bracket. Stunning looking car.

Is there anyone else who thinks that the cc has been ruined now it's been changed to the new passat style?

Now it's not much better looking than the superb.

I completely disagree :D

The new look makes it more stylish, and especially the tail lamps is a vast improvement.

Guys.

Thanks for all the input. I have had the weekend to drive and think things over.

I won't bother you with the details, but all things put together the gadgetry looses. The total package of the Superb wins, and my L&K with build week 20 still has a home to live in :)

My dear BSK colleague TAKKTAKK, I believe is all about money. You need lane assist, fancy look and a VW badge on your bonnet even it worth 35.000 E then go for CC or with all decent features required for a decent day by day driving paying only 27000 E go for best Superb the Elegance + optionals. You should mention the money limit otherwise our imagination cold go further away. I conclude it's just a matter of taste and affordability. I made the same balance between Superb Elegance and Landcruiser LC 150. Gues what, I love my Skoda every day and I saved 20000 E. :D

I know this topic is pretty much over, but I have just been to B&Q and put 3M lengths of timber into my Superb estate. There is no way that would happen in the CC. That's why I got the Superb.

The Superb won it. Taking delivery in late May as it looks now.
