Hi guys.

My octavia estate 1.6 petrol is making a clicking noise. Seems to be coming froma box under the engine on the left hand side. Just wondering does anyone know what it is?

Also. When driving the car seems to hiccup between 2500 and 3000 revs. Doesn't happen all the time. Only sometimes.

The ticking sounds like the evap system - it's normal for it to tick apparently though I've never heard mine. Black box between the coolant ball and the washer reservoir (assuming same position as 1.8t).

It recycles fumes from the petrol tank and feeds them back into the intake.

Yeah. That's the box alright. I hardly doubt it's ment to be ticking. Might be ok but still doesn't sound right.

Nope, the ticking is completely normal. They're supposed to do it. It's a solenoid valve turning on and off. You can usually hear it with the bonnet shut.

Hmmmm. Ok. So that wouldn't be the cause of the car mis firing or hiccuping or whatever it's doing,

Probably not. I would have thought that would be more a ignition related issue, or a split of torn vac or breather hose somewhere.
