Got a load of relatives coming on Friday so I booked a mini bus to pick them up. Booked online from Thursday afternoon till Friday afternoon and as it was accepted thought they were open on Friday. Just incase as I was passing on Friday I popped in to make sure everything was ok, they said it was.

Got a phone call today saying that due to the road being closed as the queen is coming that they couldn't supply it, then added that they were closed on Friday too! Now they are saying that to have it I'll have to have a 3 day rental Wed to Sat! Only need it for Friday morning and can't afford the extra £160! Where it'll just be sat. There's no other firms with one either what can I do? Surely I've entered some kind of agreement?

They are closed Friday so they are loosing nothing by you taking it back on Saturday first thing,

they can not hire it on Friday to anyone else because the Road is Closed and they are closed!

Sadly not much you can do about any of that as you do not have the booking unless you can talk them into a better deal.

If they can get someone else to hire it Thursday to Saturday, that is unlikely.

My next move would be a call to the Local Trading Standards,

talk it through with a Trading Standards officer that might even know the company.

You never know, they might just give the Firm a call on your behalf.

But then Trading Standards Officers are a little like that in Scotland, maybe not down your way.

Is a 'Airport Transport/taxi Company' not a cheaper option for doing the Collection of the Relatives?

Would you not be better off hiring a minibus & driver to do the collection?

I'm gettin quotes over 160quid for a mini bus taxi one way! Most are over 200! Really peed off over this, its not like I just booked it and forgot about it, I made the effort to go in to double check ffs

Damn it can't find the email address of anyone high up like the managing director ffs. No point in complaining directly to the staff, sure it would just get accidentally deleted. First and last time I use minsterself drive

I think we use hertz for minibus hire at work,we use many different hire companys for our vehicles,not many have minibus's for hire sadly,you may have to keep ringing round,work wont even let us use our own transit minibus for personal use anymore. :(

Chauffeur them in a few cars... you and a couple of mates. Pay them petrol and a crate of beer. Much better!

Well went in today ready to play havoc and the manager said that I shouldn't have to pay extra,contacted the police who gave them a 30min window to let them in and out at 5 and is even sending someone to pick it up on Saturday morning due to them being closed on Friday. Apparently it was head office who said they had to charge me extra she tried calling the guy in charge but he left work early
