2nd Service Due Soon - 1.4l Tsi dsg

Featured Replies

Very soon the second service will be due, and at that time I expect the car will have covered less than 10.000 miles total.

I intend to have the service carried out by a SUK main dealer for all the obvious reasons.

However, I am aware that some dealers carry out extra work as part of the "standard" service.

This of course entails additional charges. For instance some say that the coolant and or the break fluid should be changed on the second service irrespective of the mileage covered. There may well be others that some dealers like to add to the service.

I am quite happy to have this, or any work carried out, if it is in fact required by SUK.

So my question is " What exactly is required by SUK for the second annual service"

When I know this I shall be in a better position to discuss the service with a local dealer.

As is the case with many people, cost is a consideration, so if I am able to reduce this it will be most welcome.

I have looked into both the handbook and the service record booklet and still not sure, as they do not define the exact service routines very clearly to my mind.

If anyone is able to assist I should be pleased to hear from them, and if they are able to give exact details of the schedule of work carried out, together with prices for this service it would be of great help.

Thanks in anticipation.

For additional work: I would expect a cabin/pollen filter change at two years. The brake fluid used to be changed every two years but I understand it is now three years, then every two there after. (After MY 2011)

I can't see you needing spark plugs or air filter before 6 years.

Maybe an automatic gearbox has additional work?

I had my 2nd year sevice carried out on a 1.8tSI DSG a couple of months back. Id done 18,000. It is on a fixed service regime. I was adviced to have the brake fluid changed as an extra. I went for it as it only cost me an additional £24.00. I wasnt going to lose any sleep over that.

Would you mind if I asked how much the total service cost, and exactly what the detailed bill listed as having been done.

Thank you

Best way to sort this is to ring around a few local Skoda dealers (And maybe an indy or two) for some quotes and see what you get quoted. You can then post that up here and we can all chip in with our two pennorth as to which is the best to go for.

I cant answer that at the mo as all the paperwork is in the cars glove box and the car is in for a few days at the dealer having some ongoing warrenty work sorted. When I get the car back ill dig it out and let you know.

60k or 6 years for air filter

Blimey things have changed ! Thanks Tech1e.

Sorry for derail ramonford

I have just had my second service at 20k on my 1.4 tsi DSG and didn't pay for anything additional, would have like the air filter to be done, but 20k is not that much I guess.

My 1.4 DSG service indicator says I have 300 miles until the second service is due. Its done nearly 37,000 since new in July 2010. Long service intervals.

Would be of interested to know exactly what items were covered by your second service.

Please could you find time to detail out all the items and work that were on the service invoice.

Thank you.

I have a 10 plate 1.4 TSI manual that has just had the service indicator come on for the 2nd service, done 23000 miles (first service was done in June last year prior to my purchase at the end of the year)

Tried two different SUK dealers (inc one car was bought from) - been quoted £159 from one dealer and £259 from other dealer, interestingly the 2nd dealer also quoted £51 for brake fluid change in addition to service price, whereas first dealer didn't mention this at all.....

I have a service+ maintenance contract and the only thing they did for my second service at 20K was to change the oil (same as what they did on my first service at 10K). But I will be getting new brake pads in a couple of months they said.

I'm paying about £17 a month for my service contract, and am a bit disappointed that in almost 18 months x £17pm all I have to show for it are 2 oil changes...

I to have been trying to unravel the service routines for my car.

The conclusion I have come to is that even the dealers do not appear to know exactly what is required on each service.

As an example I have been told quite positivity from SUK that the 7 speed DSG does not require an oil change as it is sealed for life. However 2 dealers have told me exactly the opposite. The pollen filter is another one in question, together with the brake fluid. The only one thing they have consistently got right is to confuse the customer and whack up the charges.

Total confusion on such a simple matter that even an idiot should be able to sort it.

Why can't we have service routines laid out clearly in the service book so that all is clear.

Or is that too much to ask.

The last/first service I had on this car I paid for 1.33 hours of time at £78.00 per hour.

The car was in the workshop for just 40 minutes so work that one out. There was no road test or wash/ cleaning,

Also I paid £17.40 environmental charges - just to have them pour the oil into a large recycling drum which they on sell.

Mugs all round. Be glad when the car is past the three year point and I will go indy. I know I can now but with the dsg I'm reluctant to do so.

Why make life simple when with a little more effort you can make it totally confusing for all.

Sorry so slow, just found it, basically nothing except an oil and filter change.

My manual says 37,000 miles for DSG oil change. No idea about cambelt though
