changing side light bulbs on xenon headlights

Featured Replies

hi

i have a 56 reg fabia vrs with factory fitted xenon headlights,

i want to change the side light bulbs, is this something that can be done diy or is it a main dealer job.

I have OEM xenons mate. It's a DIY, just be careful of the clips on top as they can be brittle with age, after that it's just a tight squeeze really on the passenger side headlight, removing the battery makes life easier.

Skoda dealer in Maud Aberdeenshire wanted £69 to change my sidelight bulb,

The passenger side sidelight bulb has gone on our vRS. Has anyone done this without removing the battery? (Its an 05 plate with the plastic battery cover). As i really can't be arsed with the hassle of removing and refitting it.... If it needs to be done i might just have it done when it's serviced.

Cheers Mike..... Just read your post.... You mention the ballast being on the drivers side? On ours it's on the passenegr side between the back of the headlight and the battery cover. It surprised me cos i could have sworn it was on the drivers side on my old 06 plate vRS.

Theres a ballast for each headlight. Its fidley but can be done. Undo the little screw which holds the ballast bracket, remove the bracket and move the ballast so you can gain access. Unclip the lid to the rear of the light and you can just about get your hand in. Its tight but ive done it without removing the battery.

I meant the positioning of the ballast though... I was sure on my 06 car it was the drivers side one that was behing the headlight not the passenger side one.
