was going to order new superb combi

Featured Replies

phoned local skoda dealer last saturday about ordering new 1.8tsi4x4superb combi before vat offer ends, was going to part exchange my 60 plate superb combi 140cr s with panaromic sunroof and a few other extras, untill they could only offer me £11000,has the value of these cars dropped that much?thinking of going to try audi!

Have a look at what price they are on auto trader and tell the dealers

done that and told the dealer he was having a laugh about the offer!what annoys me more is that this is the 2nd new skoda i have bought in 3 yrs from this dealer, thought that may count for a better offer,so now shall take my buisness somewhere else, shame really.

My dealer said something about only doing discounts when there's no part ex. That's partly why I brought an unused dealer demo

What did you pay two years ago and whats your mileage? Please keep in mind that it will take some time to get the new one and the dealer has to calculate the 6 months of use that you will additionally have.

i traded in my old superb twin door elegance 140 dsg with park assist and heated rear seats two months ago see picture in gallery.

they offered me £14500 at first finished at £15500 plus £500 off new car which was £20.000.bill

It is always a Mischkalkulation.

thanks for all your replies, have tried another skoda dealer with a better response,if i order new combi now could get new one in september!they can better offer than the previous one but wont no how much exactly till september, still concerns me about the origanal offer where deprication of car was 8k in 18mths !

It's always a kick in the teeth when trading a car. As the owner you always expect more than you are offered. The dealer has to make a profit on the used car. You are only going to get trade value at best. Buying new cars is always a expensive lesson in depreciation.

Why don't you buy used and save some money?

I couldn't see the benefit of buying new, so bought a used superb from a main dealer and saved thousands.

I never saw a Superb that came near to my configuration.

Keep looking on a national scale and you will find something between now and September (when you would prob take delivery of a new one).

You may need to be a little flexible in some of your choices or spec.

thanks again for all your info, good idea about looking at ex demos, shall start to have a look around to see whats about,i think skoda has extended their vat offer till june so have time before i decide to buy new again.

It took me 6 months to find my 18 month old elegance estate 170 dsg with 17000 miles, which had to have heated windscreen-heated rear seats and power tailgate and be black but it was worth it saved £9000 on new price,.had my old hatch 18 months lost £3000.well worth the wait

bill

I wanted a high spec Greenline (KESSY, Park assist, heated rears etc) and had a low.chance of finding one used. Ontop of that the cheapest used one I could find had 20k on it and was a little more than I could get one for new.

I do think that if you want a medium spec with a 140, 170 or certainly the 1.8 TSI, you can save alot of money buying used.

When buying my 6 month old ex-dealer Superb I looked at Parkers for the trade-in on my Octavia and got more than it was worth (no doubt offset by the reduction on the sticker price - I wasn't born yesterday :)). Every other car I've had I've bought new so this was my first used car. The £5600 saving on the brand new price swung it for me - that and waiting 7 days instead of 10 months to collect it!

You could always sell your car privately and then buy a cheap runaround for use until the replacement car arrives.
