1.8T coil pack recall - where do i stand?

Featured Replies

Hi all, first post so bear with me.

I own a 55 plate octy vrs which i've had for about 6 months and this morning noticed a considerable misfiring that i'd never experienced before. I decided to check the spark plugs just in case, and indeed they were pretty knackered but as i went to remove the 3rd coil pack only one half of it came out, leaving the majority of it attached on the spark plug.

I've heard about the notorious "N" coil packs, and indeed 3 out of the 4 are the N type packs whilst the 4th is a "D" which baffled me slightly as to why only one was changed.

My question is where would i stand if i took the car back to skoda? would they still replace the coil packs as per the recall or would i not have a leg to stand on after all this time?

Any answers would be appreciated

Thanks!

Chris

had mine replaced on an 04 plate about 10 months ago, no questions asked by the dealer..... straight forward

Just phone your dealer with the reg number, he'll check on tho computer and tell you if it needs doing then book you in. Takes them about an hour they do a lil health check and tell you if owt is amiss

My 2002 vrs had coil packs replaced in Feb this year. All under warrantee

yeah thanks for the reassurance chaps, rang the local dealer yesterday and they were very helpful, just mentioned that one of them had packed up and was told there was an outstanding recall on the car for them. all booked in for friday!

Took my car in to the local dealers this morning, got it back about a hour ago, it didnt need coil packs as it had the correct ones in. Thanks to the dealers tho, they dropped me off at home and collected me to pick the car back up, great service indeed

Had mine changed all for free about three weeks ago, 2001 51 plate
