10 Plate Golf GTD, expect more pictures once we pick it up, can't wait!

The golf looks very tidy. Thinking of a change of car soon myself, but got insulted with a trade in price for my car this morning.

I got insulted last month also on a trade in and the new car arrives in 3 weeks. Dilemma! Golf looks nice by the way. 170bhp?

Yes it's the 170bhp diesel, I had the 170 in a Leon FR a few years back but I think that was a PD and this will be a CR???

We bought the Clio almost exactly two years ago for £10,500 which was a bargain back then, they gave us £8,200 for it trade in which I was quite happy with. When we bought the Clio the trade in on a Fiesta we had was a joke so we sold it privately and cleared an extra £1500 over what the garage was offering but it was a right ball ache doing it!

I see these GTDs around quite frequently. Nice looking and they go well. Bon chance!

I wanted one of these when I bought the octy.

Cheapest I could get one in the spec I wanted was £30k odd which is about £12k more than my octy in the same spec.

I've specced the one we are buying on the VW web site and it would have been £27k new, that is without leather (which was a sticking point with my wife as she wasn't particularly enamoured with the pattern on the standard cloth seats) and no sat nav.

One option that the Golf does have is VW park assist which will steer for you as you parallel park, other options are upgraded alloys, bluetooth and touch screen radio.

I did try to get her to look at a Octavia vRS which I would have been more than happy with but she said they are too big.

Has anyone ever tried the Park Assist? From what I can determine you drive past a space whilst indicating towards it, the car measures the space then decides if you will fit into it, press the park assist button then you only have to work the gearbox and the pedals??

My maws tiguan has park assist

You slowly drive upto the space press the botton slowly drive past and it should light up saying its worked and then u just have to either control it with the brake or the throttle (cant rember which) and it parks its self ....simples :)

Saying that my maws never used it and me an my dad just used it once to try it

Test drove the GTD a couple of years ago when the ex was after a new car. Lovely car to drive and very quick off the mark. Looks like you've got yourself an excellent looking car there. :thumbups:

Picked it up tonight, didn't want to hand the keys over to my wife!

It's a fantastic car to drive, not exactly a rocket ship but it seems to handle really well and feels reassuring on the road.

It's up 65bhp over the wife's old Clio and she has quite a heavy right foot so she's having to get used to the extra power (and sharper brakes!)

Demonstrated the park assist now to about four people, probably will be the only time it gets used.

Needs a proper wash and then the pictures will be posted!

Looks nice mate :)

Is park assist slightly strange letting the car take over! at least you can be sure that you'll have no kerbed alloys if you do use it when people cant park!? :D

Erm not quite... PA uses the cars you are parking between as the only guide to manoeuvre you in. So if they are very narrow cars, or are parked very close to the kerb and your car is wider than they are you WILL end up kerbing your alloys. Touch wood has not happened to me - and I use the PA quite a lot in London. Brilliant tool. Just that it can get me into a space only 400mm bigger than the Yeti BUT it can't get me out! I have to DIY getting out. Not a problem with the parking sensors front and rear though...

Now the Golf: YUM! Google a few pics of the original Golf GTI and look at its seats. I'd never in a million years spec a new Golf GTI with leather seats as that tartan just looks smashing. The GTD's has less history and does not have any red in it, but that is why it has tartan seats. Enjoy the car!

Finally got around to taking some pictures, it's brilliant is the only way I can describe it.

I love my Mazda to bits but it's a poor relation now compared to the Golf!

Looks nice, not keen on the mudflaps but looks tidy inside! :)

Love the interior <3

Interior is awesome!

Nice car and sounds like you got a great trade in, well done!

How are you finding keeping it clean? After my white vrs I said I'd never go white again. Ended up buying another white one didn't I!

I cleaned mine yesterday and already it is awful.

I think these look really good. Do they look different to the GTI?

Don't like the white but those seats are kind of retro and look fantastic.

Thanks for the replies, my wife wasn't keen on the tartan at first but likes them now. I loved it from the very start!

I've had a white Mazda 6 for over two years so i'm used to the mucky winters then having the front covered in flies during the summer!

The difference between the GTD and GTI visually are Alloys, GTI has red trim on the grill and the GTD has chrome. GTI has a diffuser type rear bumper with twin exhausts either side.

Ah yes. GTD looks better. Saw a newish GTI today and it doesn't look as good to me.

Looks plain!

Same as any golf with different wheels. Overpriced too.

What do you drive that's so amazing? I know it's a free speach forum but surely if you have nothing nice to say don't say anything at all. Especially about someone's new pride and joy. Glad you didn't comment on my new car thread.

Looks very nice, what's the " button? " in the middle of the Jumbo box front?
