Octavia cigarette lighter socket dead

Featured Replies

The cigarette lighter socket on my 1999 Octavia 1.8 20v SXI has suddenly stopped working. Its used for the phone charger and the sat nav so its a bit of a pain.

Checked the fuse which is OK, but there is no power arriving at the plug behind/under the handbrake.

So it appears that power is OK at the fusebox but it doesn't get to the cigarette lighter.

Is there a junction in the wiring harness that could have come apart?

Anyone got any ideas please.

If you've pressed the button to isolate the rear electric windows, it also cuts the poer to the socket.

Thanks for that idea.

My brother has the car at the moment and its him who has reported the problem so I bet he has played with the swiitch!

I will get him to check asap.
