Recommend me some decent front pads

Featured Replies

As per title - My 2003 VRS is fitted with standard discs and pads. I am not happy with the 'feel' under braking. I don't know exactly what it is, the brakes just dont inspire me. I figure a set of half decent pads will improve the pedal feel and braking ability - at the moment it almost feels like the pads are overheating instantly and fading - even though the discs arent blued and the pads arent glazed.

I was thinking of some Greenstuff pads, or similar. Any recommendations? Im not spending the earth on a caliper upgrade or fancy drilled / grooved discs, I just want some better braking.

Most reccomend the ferodo DS-2500 pads mate, dont have them myself but highly thought of on here

Give it a few 70+ to zero stops and see if they perk up a bit,

Might have some clag on them

I have had redstuff in the past and they are not too expensive and work well! Id completely bypass the greenstuff ones

ferodo DS-2500 - I thought they were superb

Have a look at inside edges of your discs and see what they look like, mine looked fine on outside but were shot on inside edge.

Now have bosch discs and pads up front and i can lock them up at motorway speed if i hit them hard enough

Ferodo DS2500s, Brembo high-carbon discs (available from GSF) and get the brake fluid changed

OEM standard discs on mine with DS2500 pads. Job done simply fantastic.

I had a look at the cost of the pads last night are they really worth £150?

When was your brake fluid last changed?

Get them from one of the site sponsors and you'll get 10% off. They really are the best bet for better brake performance unless you upgrade to 4 or 6 pot calipers. Only complaint is they do generate more dust than OEM pads.

Soft brake pipes can also create excess pedel travel.

I have spare set of stainless braided brake hoses if you're interested....

Ferrodo DS2500

That is all.
