Traction control off

Featured Replies

Some cars are great with traction switched off... Others woeful!

I've been playing and I think the tsi vrs is better off - seems more fluid and traction is reasonably controllable with that good old right foot.

I know it doesent completely disable the dynamic stability thingy - but seems ok for fast road.

I've got the e diff set to strongest and think its still active with traction off?

Anyone else play with it off?

Obviously a atb diff would be really nice (last car had one fitted) but taking the box appart with only 14k miles on it isn't going to happen just yet.

Ive found exactly the same - much better car with it turned off. It actually supprised me the difference it made to driving with it off.

Me too. Traction off brings the car alive a bit more and you can modulate the throttle better. It seems to react a but quicker too, but maybe that's the placebo effect.

All torque and w8 - you guys won't have the same xds system as marcevo1 - this was only introduced on the FL cars (in fact the early fl's didn't get it either IIRC). My 2010 car was one of the first to have it.

I ran a mk5 gti before the vRS which had the same tc system as the pre FL and yes, i turned that off a LOT.. it seemed to want to kill the power for the slightest slippage which was more than a little frustrating.

On my FL vRS (with xds) i find i rarely switch of the tc system - if i want to be a hooligan then its off, but on 99% of the time its on for me, even when i'm on a hoon.

So whats the difference in the Facelift tsi engine and the tsi enigine in my Limited Edition? (09)

Pass.... Worth checking (both of you) if xds can be set up using Vcds? It's not a complicated bit of software - basically slows one spinning wheel on an open diff (mimicking an atb diff)

Mines the 2.0 tsi

The garage I bought mine from said the Limited Editions had the engines from the FL Vrs models, along with the dials, bolero ect.....

Is the XDS part of the ESP? i only have ASR on my fl octy 1.8tsi..

Thanks..

Xds I think is vRS only, and introduced from week 45 2009 built cars from what I found via the search.

Worth asking on the Vcds forum

It's part of abs adaptions so you never know - suspect not though as it may need extra sensors?

I was just looking at some vw forums and from what I can make of it ... XDS settings can only be altered on cars with ESP.

We don't have ESP on our cars here in India, only ASR :(

However i still have shot an email to Dana lets see of we can do something.! Will keep everyone updated.
