Sub positive connection inside the fabia?

Featured Replies

Fitting a sub and I know the grommet behind the glovebox trick but is there a similar feed from somewhere in the fuse box area or under the steering shroud?

I believe there is one just above the foot rest in the footwell. However I havent checked this i just remember reading it in here somewhere.

My problem is grounding the bleedin thing...

Not sure on the Positive feed but for the ground use the Seat belt mounting bolt, I used this and had no issues at all, infact was made for the job ;)

In my Fabia i wired the sub's positive from the boot, through the interior trim, up the passenger foot well, behind the glove box and then through rubber grommet for the bonnet release hole i believe is used on LHD models.

For Grounding there is a ground terminal behind the boot lining near the circuitry for the boot light (on the near side).

hope that helps

:)

It's far easier to run the power cable down the side the glovebox is anyway. Plus that's the side the battery is on. Remember it's not the one in the engine bay, but the one that runs through the plenum chamber right at the top near the top suspension mount that's best. The wire will go through two pieces of metal. It's best to remove the wipers and the plastic cover.

As mentioned above the factory ground behind the carpet is the best one for the least effort, without drilling holes in the car etc.

I ran my sub wiring through the above mentioned grommit but I ran the power cables under the centre console and under the small carpet section on the exhaust tunnel up and under the rear seat straight out under the bottom of the rear backrest and into the boot.

Thanks for the replies but as stated I already know about the grommets. I currently have used the grommets for a boost gauge and wiring for oil temp and pressure. The grommets are a little packed if you get me?

Surely there is a live feed in or around the fuse box/ under the steering wheel area????

There is a live feed near the fuse box yes. It lives behind a small cover. You have to remove the lower part of the dash below the steering wheel. Will see if I can find a picture.

Be careful though. Make 100% certain the existing cable between here and the alternator/battery is capable of handling the extra load you will apply. I think the wire is fuse protected to prevent a fire, but better safe than sorry.

You may be better off drilling a new hole somewhere.

Hmmm, I think I'm better off trying to get it through the bulk head somehow. I actually think I might be able to use the grommet by the plenum, but I can't remember which side I used for wiring so possibly I may have a free one. Thanks for the reply
