Hi everyone just wanna find out how i can get my exhaust to sound louder on my vrs... When i bought the car it already had a milltek exhaust system fitted... Im sure the owner told me all the way up to the cat... Now to make it louder do i just need a decat pipe or 2.5" bore non res middle pipe? I dont know much about either, hell i dont even know how exhaust systems work... Ive seen someone selling the non res pipe for like £70 or £80 and im wondering if just getting that will increase the loudness?

The milltek system isn't overly loud, so perhaps yours is already non res, to check jack the car up and take a look.

If its non res you should see a Backbox at the rear by the bumper, and follow the pipe back to roughly underneath where the gear stick would be if you notice another thin round box on the long straight then it's resonated if it's just a straight pipe then its a non res system!

They dont do "res" or "non res" for diesels as they arnt loud enough. Decat it for more noise.

Just cannot understand why you want more noise,because noise dont make any car go faster,but extra noise might get Mr Plod more interested in the car.

I can only imagine its a mistake (maybe they got confused what with the petrol versions being available too) as there is only one option for the fabia, checked the site and was the same when my mate got his. Never know diesels to have the choice as they are not every loud generally.

I like a nice exhaust note, not massively loud, but nothing wrong with wanting a bit of noise, they are very quiet anyway.

Matt, Have you got the full piper system? With a Silencer or not?

And seeing as we're heading off topic, I have a full piper turbo back, I had the 0 silencer and loved it at first with mega loud pigeon noise and a jet like whoosh under load...but the novelty soon wore off, it sounded awful at idle like someone blowing down a straw.

It's also very loud under hard accel and just noisy if you're cruising, I spoke to piper who stung me for £194 for just the silencer section and it's all much nicer now! Pigeon noise has gone and the cars a nice place to be again.

It all depends on what you want from it, but for me as a daily commuter it was a bit ott in its 0 silencer form.

I also bought my system through a company called rude racing, their advertised price was low (£190 for decat dp) but when I got to checkout it was showing as £177 all in delivered!! Same for the catback came in at £198

Back OT i`m not a massive fan of 0 silencer exhausts personally, not a nice sound at all. I think my current piper w/decat is spot on.
