Cruise control

Featured Replies

Evening all,

is there anybody out there who knows where I can get cruise control fitted in Glasgow or surrounding area?

You an buy the kits from skoda or online very easily. And I've read thru an online guide provided and it's very very easy to do. No more than an hours job. Simple if your handy around a car.

Cheers for that mate but I,m a cack handed git at the best of times,I will probably buy all the kit and then try a few independant VW garages locally before I take the plunge!!

I would get someone to fit it because you may have to get it turned on in the E C U and some garages want 30 quid .

Well nipped into above garage and made the enquiry, spoke to technician who told that "It was the most awkward job he had undertaken and that unless my car had an electric sunroof/ heated seats or electric mirrors then its not possible to retrofit cruise control!!!

A bit confused now because after reading the various threads on here it,s the first I heard it mentioned.

Can anyone shed any light or am I being took for a mug?

He's probably right.

If yours is a 1.2 Classic, it might not have the controller which supports cruise control

Do a search on here. There is a thread showing how to identify which CCM you have with a simple visual check.

I,ve still to check part no but is it possible to swap ccm over to one that will be compatable with cruise control?

Yes! I purchased one off eBay for £15!

Is it a straight forward changeover?

The unit itself is but it needs to be coded up.

The reason the 1.2 doesn't have the right controller iirc is Skoda advise CC is not suitable for the 1.2.

Sounds like he doesn't have a clue to me.

Something to do with labouring when climbing hills with cc on isn't it?

Funny you should say that, I got the same impression, forgot to mention but he also said that it would cost around £300!!

Yes.

I would charge £160 to supply and fit if it had the right control unit as an example but if a central electrics ecu is required new they are over £300.

That was just for a standard install,no mention of any additional parts.
