Lucky escape for my engine.

Featured Replies

My car had its 4th (full) service on friday & on sunday i found all the air intake hanging off, tonight after work i removed the engine cover/air filter housing (what a stupid design that is!) & found the missing screws & clip had been sucked into the housing & got wedged in the air filter, thankfully they didnt get into the engine,Total incompetence by the garage & the master technician that did the job, tonight i found the wheels havent even been off & the front pads were seized in the calipers.

Crikey. Next step a solicitor ????

Wasn't benfield was it?

ive been given 1ltr of engine oil (as the car came back from service with low engine oil level) & £50 off next service & a free valet.......this was before i found the clip in the air filter though.

Instruct a solicitor to do what? I don't think he wants to move house.

Poor workmanship no doubt, however, they have put it right and offered compensation. If you want I am sure you could get a touch more.

As for the wheels, without knowing the service requirement there is most likely no need to remove. Types and wheels can be checked on ground and on lift as can pad and disc thickness on most cars.

They didnt put it right,i fixed it myself,i asked about the brakes & was told the wheels would be removed but they dont strip & clean the brakes as part of a service. At least the air filter, pollen filter & plugs have been changed like they said they had,i did check! ;) One of the rear wheels was seized to the hub,i doubt thats been off since i bought the car 18 months ago when they replaced the tyre on that wheel.

Skoda dealers are drifting into that VW mindset - all bling, no humility and no honesty.

I'm almost stunned that this can happen going on their recent reputation on here... I've only used DMK Leeds and have found them very helpful/accomodating. This still worries me as it's part of the same group, having said that it's a different set of staff.

Think I might use an indelible marker on my consumables in future and fully check the important bits before its first service (going on recent mileage later this year).

Chin up OP, it could've been worse!

Funny that..my air intake was snapped off by them on the last service in Feb...tbh they have lost me as a customer some time ago

Blimey sounds a hell of a place.Best avoided.

I thought the brakes are just a visual inspection unless need replacing?
