Bad re-map :( Car won't start when hot

Featured Replies

I had my car remapped, seemed all good, until after a bit of a hammering I turned it off for a while aHotwire I went to turn it back on it started but then cut out as if it had run out of diesel, once it had cooled it started again. And it sounded rough, now I've had the map taken off it doesn't seem to be running the same as before...... Any ideas please?

Oh dear there is your problem.

Cheap and cheerful is not good when it comes remapping, especially when people just buy pirated equipment and a bunch of map files, have no idea what they're doing and call themselves tuners.

Who knows what level of boost, injection quantities and duration it was requesting.

Oh :( well Iv learnt my lesson now, if I change the temp sensor to be on the safe side and get it remapped again it should be ok? Probs only go to 160-170 because when I floor it now there seems to be a noise from my turbo, sounds like something small and metal is jumbling round :(

That will be the turbo on its way out then.

Get it changed before it goes and takes out bits of your intercooler or worse, your engine.

No reputable tuner would map a car with a turbo on its way out.

Always good to know someone with vcds. Logs can be carried out to find this out. Seen a few remaps where boost is increased to what I believe to be unsafe amounts for the kkk turbo. Also seen the torque limiter set to max or just increased by x percent across the whole range.

However without proof who knows. It may be a perfectly good map but something else has happened. Remember quality never always comes with a price :)

Gutted :( that's going to be big bucks then :( would a pd160 turbo bolt straight on? Don't know what I was thinking letting some fool muck with my car, what's vcds? Cheers for the help guys.

Pd160 would be a bolt on I would of thought. It's based on a pd150 turbo.

Vcds is Ross techs diagnostics. You can use it to log stuff like boost pressure, IQ.

Think Im going to wait it out, see if it gets worse or blows even, can't afford to do the turbo tbh, if it goes will have to sell exhaust and coilovers to get it done :(
