CV Joint uprated on vrs over a std tdi?

Featured Replies

Morning all, ive got a outer cv joint knocking on the car and since i work in a motor factors ive been looking the part number up and noticed that the fabia 'tdi' [100bhp?] has a different part no' and is much cheaper too! so from experience im guessing the vrs must use a thicker/stronger shaft? and therefore i suppose ill have to fork out for the 'proper' Vrs joint, oh well its always worth trying to save a bob or 2 on the old girl :giggle:

cheers Mark

They might be different lengths due to the different gearboxes (5sp on the 100 and 6sp on the 130) but I doubt they are any different in thickness or strength.

ohhh never thought about that yeh, forgetting im lucky enough to have 6 over there 5 speed ! good thinking batman cheers

You rarely beat the stealers at that game mate.

There is a difference, if at a motor factors (GSF i find are best) make sure you as if its for the 6spd box. it is thicker than the 5spd version, me and a mate made that mistake!

GSF was around £50 if i remember correctly whereas the dealers were double ish and required your old one back too!

Ah I meant with cheaper parts fitting a wider range of models ie that 5sp shaft on a 6sp car.
