brakes how much and how?

Featured Replies

Just bought full set of standard size brembos for my vrs.

Asked local garage how much to fit for me, got told 2 hour work so £70, because you have to wind back ones on?

Does this seem fair as i have changed front myself before and it only took me half hour a side.

And i didnt know what i was doing and dont have all tools they have.

Yeah its about right tbh mate. Alot of places wont do 30 mins labour charges and the job is likely to take just over an hour.

Standard sized Brembos? I assume you mean the discs, yeah?

If youve done them before then you'll know what to do. The rears are the same as the fronts only the piston needs winding in to allow the new pads then they adjust themselves. A caliper piston winder is less than £20 from halfrauds so you'll save yourself £50 on the fitting for some mods!

You could also wind them in using an angle grinder tool that you tighten the disc onto the grinder with

Yeah i meant standard size discs sorry. Cost me £138 for full set of pads and discs

If you can do the fronts do them, as pointed out the back's are no harder, your local motor factor should have the winder for less than £20 if not they can be sourced online for closer to half that.
