Fabia rear screen water trap.

Featured Replies

We have a new Fabia and the one thing that is a bit annoying is the water trap beneath the rear screen. After washing or rain that gap between screen and boot lid remains full of water and is quite awkward to dry out. Does this bother anyone else or am I just too finicky?

I think that gap should be sealed with a bead of sealer.

Not actually noticed it apart from a few drips after washing but this is similar on all cars somewhere, say under the mirrors, door handles, etc!

I had to read your post twice as in reading the first time, I mis read the word BEAD, instead my brain saw BREAD...

Had to think, how could filing the gap with BREAD help? :giggle: I guess I just wasn't using my loaf!

The collected/trapped water runs out of the sides when the hatch it opened, I am sure it's designed this way.

On balance, the gap between the lower of the rear screen and hatch is quite sizeable for a sealer to fill/bridge properly and neatly, but there is always someone who's pretty innovative so watch this space!

That's nothing compared to the facefull waiting for you in the number plate recess!

Then it runs down either side where the strut lifter things are and onto the lights and sometimes a bit goes into the boot.

I use the edge of a microfiber drying towel or a autoglym chamois to dry mine ;-)

Or use an airline... Blow it out.

The gap between the window and boot doesn't bother me but behind the license plate does trap water and the moment you open and close the boot door water appears again.

Same goes for the side mirrors - they trap water and soon as you drive a few miles both doors on either side have stains from water.

Yes, I have noticed this issue and wick the water out with a wash leather. I doesn't take too much trouble.
