What fabia do police use?

Featured Replies

Just brought a monte carlo and my dads looking for a fabia estate so I now have a interest in fabias :)

Have seen a lot of police around my area use Fabia estates but I am suprised they are not vrs so I wonder what engine they are using and if they have done anything to them as they do look slightly lower than the ones we have been looking at, anyone know?

I would imagine in these times of cuts they will be using a base diesel model.

Plod near me are just converting to Hyundai i30 estates.

I used to see the octavia vrs estates all over kent now I see loads of these basic looking fabias and think they would struggle at high speed

The Octavia's in Kent are 2.0 TDI and the Fabia's are 1.4 TDI or 1.9TDI base models iirc. They get serviced at T.Wells Skoda...

It'd not be a high power car as the Fabia isn't big enough to be used for specialist patrols (it's normally traffic or armed response who get the powerful cars)

They will only look lower as there will be a boot full of kit in them and a couple of big plods weighing down the front! Most police cars are poverty spec as the dash will get gutted to fit all the police radios and other gubbins. It's rare to see the factory stereo even left in these days.

They are the mid spec Fabia 2 and they have the 1.4TDI 80 BHP engines in them, used to work for the Skoda dealer that does all the warranty work so been all over them! Seen some pretty sneeky under cover cars to with all the switch gear hidden away from public view and some even had personalised number plates and tow bars helping them to blend in with every other car on the road!

I've seen Octy VRS's in Birmingham.

Ah not quite lowest spec then! Not seen any unmarked units with personal plates around here.

The techs who do the kit installs are very good at what they do - totally stealth is normal these days. They even have multiple filament bulbs with normal lights and blue strobes in so you can't even see the blue lights. I'd love to go out in with an unmarked unit just to see the setup.

They are blinding! The switchgear is hidden in the ashtray in most cases so even looking through the window there are no "tells"

Seen an Audi Q5 with roof box, unwashed too, as an undercover plod on the A19, pulling over an unlucky fella

Obviously not a Fabia but still in the VAG Group...

Saw a silver VW Passat Estate R36 (and therefore very rare) pulling over a motorist in Sussex the other day. Blue strobing LEDs in the lights, blacked-out windows and probably some firearms in the boot too!

Not sure what spec the Fabia is but it will be Navy Blue & missing the wheel trims.....

If its just a patrol car I.e for a basic and standard driver it will be a standard diesel from whatever year it's from. 1.4 / 1.6 diesel.

We only have a few Skodas at GMP and none are fabias. Only Octavias

There's at least one unmarked 61 plate fabia vRS in GMP now - saw it at Openshaw being prep'd with emergency equipment.

Have to say all this talk makes me happy that the undercover cars around the area swmbo stays in have to have "strathcylde police" stickers on them as people used to stop youngsters that were drinking and confiscate their drink for themselves :giggle:

On another not in my area they have a jag XK, a LR disco and a 3litre audi and a few beemers...... Fiver to whoever works out wich of us stays in a better area :D

Seen a new shape (FL) Furby estate in Herne bay, guessing it was an SE spec or higher as it had the Elba alloys on it.

Plod around my way have got old shape Fabia TDis as Community Support cars. Everything else is a vauxhall or beemer.

Fiver to me - the high powered cars mean you have more trouble where you are

Brilliant :) still laughing at them having to have stickers saying "real plod" on their cars. Great idea for a booze cruise.

The new hyundais aren't that bad TBH. And they have left the radio in too!!

A bad idea to leave the radio in if you ask me!

I know, top motor. I have one, not a plod one, a normal one. Lots of car for your loot.

Youd think that but her area have crap cars as all the "wee pubes" as i like to call them only have 1 litres with massssive exhausts(that always wake me up) so they dont need to power :D

Were as the only crime in my area is usaly speeding so they get the more powerful motors.......although they still have a smart city car :giggle:

Seen that they have a 4x4 octy today though:(
