2007 VRS SE Front Brakes - sizes?

Featured Replies

Hi, i'm looking to buy new discs and pads for my car asap. Not looking/requiring to upgrade so just standard sizes. I've been searching for ages and have found a lot of topics about this but none categorically confirm what i need. Looking to but from EuroCarParts.

I know I the discs I need are 288 x 25mm ie these:

However, there are so many different options for pads. Which do I need out of these:

Many thanks in advance (and apologies if it is covered elsewhere - I have tried but to no avail!)

I know Eurocarparts - in common with all other battery retailers it must be admitted - give the wrong battery code for the late model vRS - but the situation with brake pads is pretty useless isn't it? I put my reg in and three pages of pads come up! The problem seems in part to be the search routine not going by model but only engine size - or is it? When I filled in the "Refine your results" section the number of pads still stayed at 25. Other than taking out one of the existing pads (assuming you've failed to get an answer on here) you could try visiting/ringing them - but I wouldn't hold out much hope...

Agree with that, it just appears to be all pad sizes for any 1.9 derivative. Don't live anywhere near one and was looking to order online. I sent them a message to their online help thingamybob. If I get a good definite answer I'll post up!

I got the PM and will look into it,

The truth is, on the factory line VAG are the WORST for fitting different parts on the product line, to vehicles with different options / specs

Batteries is a great example - rather than using 1 battery for the range, depending on what electrics you have they'll fit a different size battery - ie/ if you have all the optinos (heated seats and a DVD player you may have an 096, but if you choose a sunroof and not a DVD player you may have an 075) - Because of this we list all the options, measurements, and actual pictures to allow the customer to choose the right one.

The same goes for brakes - depending on which alloys, which day of the week it was built etc...... we do list the size, measurements and the 'PR' Code so you can choose them, however in this case customers won't always know - For this i can use the SKODA system to confirm

Give me 30mins and ill reply with part numbers :hi:

May I remind you that although that might be the case for brakes it's not the case for batteries. Your website - and all others - only lists a 096 size battery for a vRS but the different design of the later battery compartment requires a 027 to properly fit as originally supplied by Skoda.

However I would say your counter staff are most helpful.

Any update on this? I found out from skoda that the part no for the pads is 6Q0 698 151A but he couldn't tell me the sizes. He also said that these pads have wear indicators. However, it failed its MOT this morning due to front pad wear and if they had indicators, I'd have expected them to come on before now!?

From using that part no. It appears that the sizes are 131.4 x 62.43 x 18.8 but none of the pads on ECP are that size. The closest I can see is 131.4 x 60 x 19.

Fabia VRS doesn't have wear indicators.

I had to snip the connectors off my TT pads when i fitted my 312s.

Hope this helps

Great - thanks, they come up only one size of pads for my specific model. They say 131 x 62 x 18mm. They also give a diagram so you know what you're ordering.

I'd ideally like to go for pagid though, so will going for a 131.4 x 60 pad be ok (ie the 60mm width as opposed to 62 that is required??)

I'm needing them urgently now and I'm tempted to just pay the extra and get the ones from the dealer, at least i know i'm getting the right ones and if they're not i can take them back.

Also - i checked the car tonight, cant see any wires going to the pads so i'm pretty sure i do not have wear indicators. I also noticed that the existing pads are Ferodo 4307's (with nowt much left  )

Any update on this?

Didn't get the pm. Just checked there again and inbox is still empty?! I dunno whats happened!

Anyway, thanks for the clarification, much appreciated!

Now the ECP website is down though!

Yes we were attacked last week which caused nearly a day of downtime!

I have replied to your question regarding fitting cheaper/smaller discs.
