ASR light flashing & lack of power?

Featured Replies

Hi all, Having a little proplem that I hope some one can shed some light

Iv had my 04 fabia vrs for 6 months now and its been fautless, I switched my ASR off for the 1st time a few days ago and all was well, switched it back on and now when ever I boot it the ASR light flashes and I loose power, Turn the ASR off and its fine,

It seems to have all of a sudden gone really sensitive?

Any ideas?

Thanks

Rich

Mines alway done it? Totally normal, its a electronic system to stop the wheels spinning, sort of like traction control.

Yes mine did it before when driving hard low down the gears, but now it seems to do it all the time, even 5th & 6th when doing normal speeds when I put my boot down (in the dry too)

Anyone know whats the problem?

Its perfectly normal, that is how it works? reduces power when wheels slip to stop loss of control. Happens low down on the fabia because there is a lot of torque there. If it is a persistant problem maybe you need new tyres.

Maybe you got used to driving it without and now it feels dodgy? I avoid using ASR on my cars, hell I'm pretty sure my Fabia doesn't have it even.

traction control activating in 6th on dry roads is perfectly normal??

could a dodgy sensor cause the system the think there's a difference in wheel speeds, which would look like wheel spin?

^ cheers, Yes its not normal as it didnt do it before when pottering about in the dry!, seems really sensitive now, Not drove it for a week as iv been on holiday, going to take it out now, if its still the same il run it into a garage,

I did fit my rear tyres onto the front wheels 2 weeks ago, but there 205/45/16 toyo proxies same as before, and have 6mm+ tread, I also fitted 205/50s rear, this cant be causing it?... unless there is a sensor that has been nocked?

Cheers,

Rich
