Tried out my new Chemical Guys Black Light polish. I recommend it!! I'm very happy with the results. It was easy to apply and buff off. After leaving for 15 minutes I expected it to be difficult to sh

Have you submitted that Biskoda should be part of your new flag Rob. I vote for a baby Kiwi on it :)

Yay :) I would have hit the 'Super like' button, but I don't seem to have one :( Can't believe she's 7 already. She doesn't look to happy, perhaps it's because she's nearly 50 in dog years :D Give her a big birthday hug from me :) x

Happy Birthday Noodle :)

Remember when you got her - how time flies on Briskoda!

Sod a de-cat, you need a de-dog!

Top Noodle action as ever :) :)

Drove all the way up here to find a "No dogs" sign. Noodle was unimpressed.

Bugger:

It has been a few hours since I did this so I'm calm enough to be able to post without swearing.

Pulled into a parking bay at the side of the road. There was about a 5cm kerb to get up into the parking bay so I was concentrating on carefully negotiating that side and failed to notice the bay was not as wide as a car.
I mean who makes a ****ing parking bay that's narrower than a ****ing car? Really!? ******s.
Maybe I'm still quite upset about it.
So the $10 of books I was collecting has turned into a $100 wheel repair plus possibly a $350 tyre.
Narrower than a ****ing car - what the ****?

Bad luck :(

Aww man that sucks. :(

Terrible luck Rob. Maybe go back and measure the space. If it was a public parking space it'll need to conform to certain sizing requirements.

So a claim for damages wouldn't be out of the question. Worth investigation anyway.

Went for a rather exhilarating 330km drive with a local car club :)
Over the hills a Ford FPV Pursuit V8 Ute was setting the pace, followed by a Beemer 550i, me then a tuned Impreza WRX.
Oh yes it was fun. :D

Oil temps hit 140 over the Rimutaka Hill road (lots of short overtaking lanes) but rapidly returned to 90 on the downhill stretch. Similarly on the 40km run from the main road to the coast - lots of up and down, sweeping bends, overtakes, slightly naughty speeds and oil temps hovered at 120-130 but as soon as I backed off from using the turbo they returned to normal.

So I think the oil cooler is doing what it should!

Also I washed the windscreen on the way back and it smelled rotten!! Washer fluid must have gone off! Kept washing the windows on the way back and letting the rain clean it off - it takes ages to purposely empty a 5.5L washer bottle :D

Great photos Rob. Sounds like a good run out!

I want to do it every weekend, it was awesome! Don't think the wife would approve though.

Dropped the car off today so TMS can tweak the map to remove the CEL for SAI pump.

Also left the cambelt kit, water pump, aux belt, engine mount and ECS lightweight pulleys to fit as I have been putting that job off for too long.

I set off way too early - TMS is a 40 minute drive in the opposite direction to work and I was worried about getting to work late. Ended up dropping the car at 6:15 am, hopping straight onto a train and getting to the office at 7:30. I usually start at 8-8:30

Ah well, early finish :D

The garage was open at that time?! Or did you just leave it parked up?

  • Author

Left it parked outside and posted the keys through the vent in the dyno bay doors. :D

Good thinking. I often drop the spare into my guy the night before, then just drop it off first thing. Not that early though!!

Haven't got it back yet - they haven't worked out how to get rid of the EML for SAi yet and my rocker cover gasket is leaking so I said might as well get it done. Waiting for a new one to arrive.

Hopefully this will be the last thing needing doing for a while and I can just spend money on petrol! :)

That would be nice just add petrol.

always something.

Cambelt done. Driver side engine mount changed (only had it on the shelf for 3 years!). Aux belt changed along with oil seals. ECS lightweight pulleys installed. New rocker cover gasket (it had a slight leak).
Need to just drive it for a while and stop spending!!
Though it is due a brake fluid change.
And the rear discs and pads are low (still have the originals on - ten years isn't bad!)

Oh and I ordered another couple of stickers. Oops.

Got to be one of the best looked after Mk1s Rob!
