Not forgetting that once you have rods wich you plan todo

300 to 330 bhp 300 to 330 ftlb

No contest mapped by nick there is nothing better IMO

Ask nick his views

Correct setup will create a beast

Diff is key

Thanks CN good conversation we had.

I do plan for rods

Tried out my new Chemical Guys Black Light polish. I recommend it!! I'm very happy with the results. It was easy to apply and buff off. After leaving for 15 minutes I expected it to be difficult to sh

Wavetrac as well?. Know they cost a bit, but they do put the power down well.

That aswell but thats a big investment.

Hi all. Been on hols the last couple of weeks. Car is going in tomorrow for its new tune with TT injectors and MAF.

It's doing some interesting things - feels like it's "holding back" accelerating on part throttle. And a few times while accelerating in first it has cut the power then immediately picked up again so it feels like it's the ECU cutting rather than it losing boost. Leaning out maybe? It cut hard enough for the seatbelt to lock, not nice!

Hoping it's not the CR hybrid going wrong :) Had a good look at my stock turbo the other day and the shaft wiggles a bit so that can't really go back in.

Hoping the issues get resolved by the tune as it's the Cannonball in 3 weeks - 2000km of driving over a long weekend.

No dyno yet. It's running rich at low revs, lean at high revs, has fuel pressure but not enough flow. Blocked filter maybe from possibly dodgy LCR fuel pump so they're changing that.

Also has developed a vac leak.

Then they'll test injectors, compression tests etc. So it's not a happy bunny at the moment.

Sorry to hear matey  :(

Id do the filter before anything! if that fixes it then job done. Then id look at the pump if that solves it then again job done.

might need a 4bar FPR? as that makes the LCR injectors flow equivalent to 525cc i think it was

Yep fuel filter first, then if that doesn't help, refit the noisy Walbro pump. Maybe run new power to the fuel pump as there seems to be a voltage drop to about 10v at the pump.

I have some Audi TT 225 injectors to fit and a 3" MAF housing before mapping.

Cracking!

Id run a separate feed to the walbro, eliminates anything electrical interfering.

I pondering how on earth im going to do 125miles to Nikki @ R-tech when i go for mapping... if i fit the 3" maf it'll run rough as a dog and i dont know about the LCR injectors and pump sure the ECU it detect an abundance of pressure and flow over standard.

Fitting a MAF and injectors will only take 10-15 mins to do - only two bolts to get the fuel rail out. So better to do it there. Driving with them fitted could be unhealthy for the engine.

No update today. Not sure if that implies good or bad news!!

Hmm, bugger. Dyno runs aborted. Too lean at higher revs and oil pressure issues when warm. Compression test shows inconsistencies between cylinders too.

Possibly rings or bearings from running too rich - oil sent for testing to see what's happening. Not getting it back for the weekend. I just hope it can be sorted before the Cannonball Run in 2 weeks :(

Walbro sorted the fuelling issues though. My LCR pump was munted.

Where's the dislike button ?

Seriously bad news :(

Whaaa?

How far out is the PSI per cylinder? The best way to check for rings is to a comp check when warm the spray some WD40 in the cylinder and if the compression jumps up a good few PSI then its the rings.

That or get a Leak down test done.

Bad times Rob :(

Still waiting for oil analysis to come back, humph. Looks like the Mazda backup vehicle will have to be used for the Cannonball at this rate. 6 working days to get it sorted. I'm not optimistic as parts needed are not likely to be held in NZ.

Phew, no bits of engine in the oil so bearings and rings are all good. Just need to find out if there is an oil pressure issue and why.

Update later!

Car for Friday and the Cannonball Run next week are looking more likely now, phew.

Only had a very brief chat about it as I was running to a meeting but apparently there was a buildup of stuff in the oil pressure relief valve. Now that's cleaned up the pressure is back to normal so we're on track for dyno and mapping tomorrow.

Mechanic has promised I will have the car back Friday even if he has to work Waitangi Day on Thursday which is a public holiday.

Go here for detailed technical drawing of my plans for the weekend:

Hope that's sorted it mate.

Looks like it's sorted. They have the car running properly now on a 10psi map, and apparently it's making good power and torque. No numbers yet. Couple of niggles to work through and they should get the performance map sorted tomorrow.

Need to buy a decent oil pressure gauge as mine still reads wrong.

Good man! thats what we like to hear!

Awesome news!

Aaargh if it's not one thing it's another.

They have the car running well, making 245bhp at the wheels (270-280 at the fly) and 400Nm of torque. Which the new clutch can't handle and is slipping.

Also the CR hybrid is running out of puff at the top end so he reckons a bigger one would easily get another 20-30 wheel horsepower :)

So gearbox out and try and get the clutch to handle the power. Not going to have the car this weekend so the stickering up for Cannonball will be a last minute late night job, assuming it gets sorted in time. Bugger.

No point risking it and ending up part way there with a stuffed clutch.

Bad times, Rob :( I was looking forward to news from the Interceptor.

Sooooooo... apparently stage 2 clutches in NZ are like the proverbial poopings of a rocking horse.

BUT there is a local company who can take my clutch, perform some magic on it and make it more betterer. So that's now the plan. Should take a day or so, plus re-fitting so car should be ready Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.

We set off for Cannonball 7am Thursday and still have half the car to wrap and a shedload of sponsor stickers to apply.

Some late night work may be required I think.

Fingers crossed for you Rob..... :)
