Has anybody had there turbo studs from turbo to downpipe replaced, I fitted a decat last week and struggled to get the nuts off the studs but managed to get the decat fitted and wasn't blowing so i left it until i had abit more time,

I had decat on a couple of weeks and wasn't keep on noise it makes so i took it off today when i had afternoon, I managed to get it back off and had a cleaned studs up and had a closer look at studs and the two outer studs the threads are shot.

I just wondered if anybody had had the studs replaced as they look like there fixed into turbo housing

I'm guessing it will be a turbo off job and get studs drilled out and replaced

They are grub screw studs I think and bloody hard to get off. May need to fit double nuts and tighten down to get decat to lock up.

yep the are kind of a grub screw, best thing is to lock up 2 nuts and undo, however if the stud is siezed then it quite possible round off!!! i had a stud snap on my old one when i was removing the stainless, i just bolted up the old one with 3 studs as it was being traded in.

There is no thread left to get 2 nuts on to, i tried that

I had to use bottles to get the nuts off first time round and then had to use them again today to get nuts again, I put my fingers above where stud should come through out of top of turbo but they look like there part of housing so won't come out altho i didn't try as i didn't have any to put in there place
