fabia 1.2 12v. 59 plate

Featured Replies

so I already have the Monte Carlo but am looking for a car for the mother. She ain't bothered about having an amazing car. Just something that will get her from a to b and is.cheap to run. We test drove the above car today and have a few questions...

A is it meant to be really grunty on acceleration?

B what kind of mpg. realistically will It get? ?

C will the 1.2 engine last? Its currently got 18000 miles on the clock.

D the asking price is 4990. Is this reasonable?

Thanks

Is it a 60 or 70?

We have a 70Ps version as a run about.

A. Flat out, foot to the floor it isn't quick. But on light to mid throttle it burbles through the gears with it's off beat soundtrack and has very good bottom end torque for 1.2. It's certainly more grunty than a 1.2 Fiesta or 1.2 Corsa. Obviously it's a small petrol not a bigger turbo diesel so it won't have diesel torque. Should feel lighter and more responsive than your tdi though.

B. 38-40mpg driven economically in an urban environment, 50mpg on a run out. 70mph on the motorway will see mid 40's but economy dies if you go quicker.

C. The 1.2 three cylinder has an excellent reputation for reliabilty. Odd issue's with early examples but later engines are great.

D. Very good price for a 1.2 12V 70 2 or SE. About average if it's a basic 1.2.

Cheers

I think its the basic. .. But we have been offered 1100 for her clapped out corsa. Which needs a new timing chain and clutch and has something wrong with engine mounts so think were onto a win it still passed the mot. But just. ..

If it has 12 valves it is the 70bhp, if it has 6valves it is the 60bhp.

Mine is the 70bhp and it's been fault free since I bought it. I drive it every day, in the snow, rain, ice, heat, no problems, starts every time, still runs as sweet as day 1.

As long as you get it regularly serviced it should be reliable.

A.Yes it is quite torque, good designed engine that pulls well.

B. Even round town I think it is getting around 40 mpg. It warms up so quick. On a run at 65 mph will do mid to high 40s. At 80, which is will do quite well, it does drop below 40 mpg.

C.Really tough, understressed engine, little to worry about ie expensive turbo etc

D.Sound a price to sell. Has it FSH and aircon is a nice to have in summer and winter.

Not exciting car but an excellent functional mode of transport that ticks so many boxes, cheap insurance too.

If it has 12 valves it is the 70bhp, if it has 6valves it is the 60bhp.

The 1.2 12V is now available in 60 and 70 versions. The 6 valve was discontinued a while back.

Saying that I think the 59 plate is too old to get the new 12V 60 so it should be a 70.
