Spacers or not?

Featured Replies

Looking at getting Weitec springs fitted in the next couple of weeks on my VRS FL Hatch.

i am going for rear spacers of 15mm but undecided at what to do with the front. Any advice from your experience would be appreciated.

Was looking at 10mm front spacers but have noticed others on the forum don't appear to

fit front spacers.

I didn't bother with front spacers as decent 10mm ones were quite difficult to source, not to mention expensive. 10mm spacers were notoriously prone to failure as they are inherently weak due to the thickness [or lack of] of the spacer itself.

I would be interested to hear of anyone using these and their experience.

I've assumed you are talking about using hubcentric spacers here which are the ones to have.

with the neptunes - 12mm spacers r perfect.

Back or front? The fronts sit out further hence if you're running 15mm on back I agree 12mm on front is probably ideal

I've run 8mm hubcentric (with lip) H&R ones for a year now and they've been great. They're TUV approved at 8mm, so I really can't imagine there's any issue with 10s.

The part number of the H&R 8mms with the lip (not generally available in the UK) is 162555719.

A number of manufacturers withdrew them from sale and a number of distributors stopped retailing them. I am sure that there are good ones out there though. Not sure I would go 8mm though!

Rear 15mm spacers. No front spacers. I think the fronts could do with coming out 10mm

Agreed. An extra 10mm on the front would work well at that height.

15mm rear and 10mm front always looks good in my opinion.

Du you need longer bolts to run 8 or 10 mm spacers?

Definitely. Thankfully, you can pick up 35 / 40 mm bolts cheap enough...

The ones I used for my OEM wheels when I'm using 8mm spacers are

14mmx1.5mm Radius Seated Bolts 35mm 17mm Hex (1415B-ZB35/14R)

Just an update.

Went with 16mm rear and 10mm front spacers and happy with the result. 16 new bolts and 4 x new locking nuts and new top mounts.

First impressions of the Eibach springs, which I eventually went with, after 200 miles is good, ride feels much the same comfort wise, but the car feels more planted in corners.(could really do with a bucket seat and four point harnesses to hold me in place!)

Pipercross panel filter went on as well.... cant tell any difference with this over the standard.... keep meaning to look to check it was actually put in!!
