Snap, it's the same colour & similar spec to my '07 vRS! ( Black is such a good clour for a vRS, very popular with the fuzz for traffic work & it blends in well with the Octavia taxis....)

I've only had mine since April '11 & it was bought to be a 2nd car, but it's done about 8K miles since it was purchased, twice as many as my existing wagon.

Still only done 32K miles, probaly 'cos the 1st owner didn't it much, The service history seems to be OK, I've had a timing belt change at 29K miles just before the New Year, only as insurance. (Local VW dealer, special offer for 3+ year old vehicles , cost about £315.) & a full annual service last month.

I treated it to an AMD stage 1 remap last year & it's really improved the performance whilst allowing me to retain my usual elderly gentleman driving style when I can't be bothered to act like a hooligan......

The long-term average is showing 34 mpg atm, better than the 31 mpg on the computer when I took delivery.

The diesel guys wouldn't be impressed, but I'm retired so nearly all my driving is leisure motoring rather than commuting.

I find that the petrol vRS's have a real charm of their own, the flat torque curve starting from quite low RPM's, & a 5k+ usable rev range makes them easy to drive in all road conditions.

I really don't need diesel ecomomy, & I never enjoy driving manual diesels, it's too much a PITA to have to be in the correct gear all the time'

All three cars in our little fleet are flexible & relaxing to drive,...& all are petrol engined,

Hope you manage to buy this car, if not best of luck in finding a good one They are out there, it just takes time & patience..........

Happy driving, David C.

Yeah unfortunately this one got away.

Got the day off work tomorrow as there are a few more that have come up. Also going to broaden my horizons a bit and see what else there is for the money so might not end up with a VRS after all. Still really narked I missed this one but that's life.

If you don't need the boot consider a mk 5 Golf GTi

I bought one!

It's a 2006, petrol, estate (I've always liked estates for some weird reason - so this was a selling point to me over the saloon!), in blue with the 18" wheels, climate control, cruise control. Got it from a Skoda main dealer and took out an extra year warranty (so will have two years). It's going to get a service and MOT before I pick it up, and a bit of paintwork to correct some damage on the rear bumper... chuffed to bits!

Took it on a fair test drive, approximately 15 miles or so and it seemed lovely and smooth, pulled strongly, drove nice and straight and stuff.

Pick it up next week hopefully. Can't wait!
