MPH versus KPH

Featured Replies

I have a ROOMSTER SE+ 1.2, several days old now, and the question I have is: the speedometer is in MPH but in the central window between the two dials - rev counter and speedo - the digital speed shows in KPH. Can this be changed to MPH? I've looked in the hand book, followed the writings but it would appear that it can not be changed [or I don't understand the translation?] Can anyone help pls?

They are required by law to show both units of speed. The speedo doesn't have KMH, so it's needed on the digital display.

It can be changed with Vag Com if you want to though.

Thanks for your answer.

has this been changed from the older roomsters? Mine has larger mph figures on the outside of the rim and smaller kph ones on the inside. the center digital display doesn't tell me any speed info (but maybe because i don't have maxi-dot?)

Yes the newer (white maxidot) cars are different.

BTW you need maxidot to change the display, the law only states that both MPH and KPH needs to be ABLE to be displayed, this is different to having to be displayed all the time.

With maxidot it takes a few seconds to switch from the KPH to temp display being shown - plus you also then have the large MPH display as well.

(but only once it has been activated by changing a code with VCDS)

Yes you can (at least with MaxiDot) :giggle:

In my '11 roomster the option is stock and on a UK handbook I read it is the same.
