Skoda Octavia RS Coolant problem

Featured Replies

I recently flushed my coolant from the dealer before that there was a leak in the coolant box pipe . I changed the entire pipe and coolant but yesterday i found out another coolant leak below Intake . Why this thing is happening always ?? And also a burned smell is also there but the temperature gauge is still at 90 degree its not at all moving high . So today i just boot my car is full rpm i suddenly stop my car n check the engine at that time my coolant box shows the boiling sound . Can anyone tell me what the actual problem

Don't keep driving your car if you're boiling the coolant like that, you could warp the cylinder head.

Are you losing a lot of coolant? It sounds like the thermostat housing might be leaking (the plastic cover over the top of the thermostat) as that is under the inlet manifold.

Also when was the last time you had a cambelt and waterpump change? The waterpump might be broken so the coolant isn't circulating through the radiator, that would cause it to boil after a while.

If your coolant is boiling in the header tank then your temperature gauge should be on the red, if it's not on the red then your coolant temperature sender is possibly broken as well.

Thanks bro but i din change my water pump at timinbelt change. Hey but the temp gauge is working properly like 0 to 90 is there any other sensor after 90 degree ??

The water pump needs to be changed when the timing belt is changed on these cars as they have a plastic impellor which can break up over time and clog the coolant system.

You can check if the water pump has broken by taking the coolant header tank cap off then take the small pipe off the coolant header tank and hold it over the open tank. Let the engine run for a minute or so and if coolant isn't flowing out of the small pipe into the header tank then your water pump impellor isn't working and the coolant is not being circulated round the system.

Your temp gauge should go right to the top on the red (110-120) if your coolant is boiling in the header tank. If it's not doing that then you've also got a problem with the coolant temperature sensor.
